How much time...

Do/did you give vendors to respond to you before you kept your search going and looked elsewhere?

Re: How much time...

  • Couple of days, but I'm impatient.
  • Kind of depends on the vendor.  3 days to just respond, 5 days for a quote is probably average.  But most were well ahead of that.  'cept my actual venue.  They took forever to get me a quote.  BUT, I knew the people personally and this was their first wedding.  He had promised me we'd find something that worked for both of us, so I really wasn't that worried, given that I've known the owner for 10 years and know him to be a stand-up guy.  Anybody else, though, I'd have bailed on long before we got something nailed down.

  • Depends on who it was.  If it was someone I was very adamant about meeting or getting a quote from, I'd hang on a bit longer.  If not, 2, maybe 3 days.

  • It depends.  My photographer was a rec that I had gotten from a family friend, and he took forever to write me back.  Like a few weeks.  But it was still so early in the wedding planning that I didn't care.  He had a full time job and just did the photography on the side, and I knew he was busy at work.

Our other vendors were all pretty good about getting back within a day or 2.  if it was a company a really liked or really liked their pricing I gave another phone call to.  But I feel like we really didn't do a massive search or a ton of phone calls.  We went to a bridal show and got tons of info from different vendors, including pricing.  So we were able to pick all of our venues from the bridal show.

[QUOTE]I am waiting to hear back from a hair stylist and its been a week. I guess I am just used to people all having blackberries or laptops and being crazy on top of responding. I also just want to book someone so I can relax.

If its been a week I would probably try calling or emailing again.  I agree I'm also used to being getting back very quickly.  But i'm also really bad about seeing an email on my blackberry, deleting it there to answer on the ocmputer, and then never actually going on my computer so I forget.  I think after a week you're fine to attempt to contact her again.
