Shoes and Dress

I'm starting to look for shoes to go with my dress, and I'm hoping some of you that had non-white shoes can help.

I can only do 1" or less for the heel and might be able to find silver sandals.  But I have been stuck on wanting either cobalt blue (one of our colors and my favorite color) or pink (to match my bouquet) shoes/sandals.  Because of the heel height restriction and larger feet, I have only found ballet flats so far.  I'm fine with this, but my mom thinks any colored shoes will look terrible and out of place with my white dress.  I'm trying to convince her no one will really see them (I can't remember other brides' shoes at all).

Can anyone comment that wore brightly colored shoes (or ballet flats as she seems to think that since they have more fabric than strappy sandals you can see the color more) or that knows girls that have worn these kinds of shoes for their wedding?  Thanks!

  • Show your mom pictures of brides with colored shoes to help her realize that it's fine and popular.

Google Image search bride colored shoes for tons more pictures.

Check zappos.com and search shoes there.  You can sort by heel height.  What size shoe do you wear?  I would imagine you could find plenty of shoes in colors that are only 1" or less.

Good idea on the Google search!  (I should have thought of that...)  She's just kind of traditional and thinks it looks weird.  But I'll show her some more pictures (she's seen a couple).

I wear an 11 usually, sometimes a 12 depending on the shoe.  I've looked at zappos, shoebuy, payless, DSW, target, etc. but most of the shoes are over 1".  While I'd rather have sandals (since August is hot), the ballet flats are pretty cute, and I'd be happy with those.  I just don't want to listen to my mom complaining incessantly. :)
  • Bright shoes are really popular right now, and totally fine.

I also considered colors, but ended up going with silver sandals.  I also have big feet and didn't want a very high heel, so silver was easier to find.  I fell in love with a pair zappos.  They carry a lot of larger sizes and have a huge selection.

Yeah, silver seems to be the best compromise.  I have found some silver sandals that might work, but my heart is still set on a color.  I can't find a colored sandal that fits the criteria I mentioned, unfortunately.
  • I've never been able to figure out why the colour of the shoes always seems like a BFD to moms.

Tia, what about dyables?  David's Bridal has a bunch with a low heel that are sandals and tons of colors to choose from.
