Escort/Place Cards - Help

Hey ladies,
So we have 53 guests total, so I just ordered 55 place cards. I was going to have one card for each person, and these would be placed on a separate table where guests would come along, find their name, and take it to their table (table numbers on underside of folded name card). Is this ok?? I thought this would work the best because we have a lot of single guests coming with no dates...But I was googling around and some sites say if you do it this way, you have to put the card AT the table, or use one card for both Mr. and Mrs.?? Does it matter?

  • The way you have it planned out is just fine.

  • I did one card per couple and put the table numbers on the card below their name (not on the underside), but did them all on one table as you described.  If you put the cards AT the table, you would need to make a sign directing them to their table, otherwise how would they know what table to go to?  Also, I preferred to allow the guests to select their seat at their table as opposed to assigning specific seats.

Because we don't want to assign specific seats, we'll just have escort cards on a table up front -- those cards will list the single, couple or family's name and have their assigned table number.

What you're doing sounds fine, except what does "underside" mean? The table number should be listed somewhere obvious.

  • Ditto PP - one per person and having them at a table near the entrance is a-okay.  But I'd reconsider hiding the table number.  It can look perfectly nice to have it on the front, even if you're hand-writting it in.  I'd be confused if I picked up an escort card and it didn't have a table number on the front.
  • I think your guests can figure out to open the card to see their table number.
