This is going to maybe sound odd, but...

If you were coming to Italy for the first time, what would you want to try?

We have friends arriving on Christmas Day night, and I wanted to have a little spread for them with things to eat.  So far I have:

- Fresh bread
- aged parmiggiano chunks with balsamic vinegar
- mortadella, and various meats from this area
- bite sized mozarella
- olives
- crackers, breadsticks, etc.

I'm also going to make vin brulee, which is the French/Italian version of mulled wine.  What else might you want to eat, keeping in mind that you'll be jetlagged and tired?

Thank you!

  • Wine. Lots of wine.

And dinner depends on if your friends are being served dinner on the plane. If not, then yes, I'd want dinner. It doesn't matter how jetlagged H and I are when we arrive somewhere, we always want food.

You've just reminded me that I need to go and make something for breakfast.

  • Everything mentioned above sounds delicious. Plus, I love Tiramisu.
