You can't really see it, but I put coconut on it too.....I never knew I liked coconut until we went on our honeymoon.

I went to the grocery store tonight to look for red velvet cake mix and cream cheese frosting. I came back with the frosting, but couldn't find the cake mix. :( So, I bought a coconut cake instead. Yum! I really wanted red velvet though!

ggmae, funny story about my super market....I live in NY. I went to the grocery store to buy cream cheese for the frosting and they're out of it...all they had was strawberry flavor and pineapple flavor. A million people here eat cream cheese on their bagels. You'd think they'd have it.

And the grocery store near us had every friggin flavor of cake EXCEPT red velvet - spice, pineapple, carrot, ginger. WTF.

I'm not creative enough to make the frosting, so I just bought it. :)

Mmm...I just had another one as a reward for moving some furniture around (with DH's help, no worries).  We're finally getting little girl's room in shape, although it's slow going.

If you don't have red velvet cake mix, just make a chocolate cake and add red food coloring.  That's all that cake is, red chocolate.

For realz, Shelly? I had no idea! I've never noticed that it tasted like chocolate cake.

ggmae, there isn't as much chocolate in a red velvet cake as there is in a chocolate cake. It's a hint of chocolate.
