Mother-of-bride/groom attire shops?

My future mother-in-law is coming to visit next weekend in Manhattan and wants to shop for her dress/suit for our October wedding.  We'll hit the department stores, but it would also be nice to go to some boutiques.  Anyone know of places that sell nice mother outfits that DO NOT require an appointment?  (We hate appointment or guided shopping, would much rather browse ourselves.)

    You could try RKBridal on 39th St. Between 8th and 9th. They get very busy on the weekends but they do not require and appointment. They have a large selection of dresses, fabrics and colors. You could either order it there in store with them or on their website. You could go to the store, try on the dresses and order them online. For some reason it's cheaper that way. They even recommend that.

    We got my moms dress (and mine) n East West Bridals in Seacacus, NJ. Appointments only needed on Sundays.
