Just for woman, or for all?

I was planning on buying sandalwood fans for our outdoor ceremony, but I know that a lot of men prefer not to have a folding hand fan as a way to stay cool... Should I buy for just the woman and teen/kids, or should I buy for everyone, including the men? I will be buying a few extra just incase some breakage occurs...

FYI, I do have a gender friendly favor that I will have at the reception, as well as the fans for the ceremony. Nobody will go home empty handed!

Re: Just for woman, or for all?

  • If you are planning on guests actually using these to cool off, I'd plan on having enough for everyone. If it's hot enough, I think men would want to use them. I wouldn't think of these as favors since they'll be functional at an outdoor wedding.
  • Agree with Leisel.  If ithe women and kids may be too hot and need a fan, chances are men wearing coats and ties will too.  As far as it being their favor, I don't really think that is much of a favor.  If you are planning an outdoor wedding and your guests need a fan to stay comfortable, that is on you to provide for them as a matter of comfort, not as a favor.
  • I agree... I attended a wedding last year in July, the hottest day of the year in this area.  PLENTY of the men were utilizing the fans, regardless of how "feminine" it may have made them look.
  • Quick suggestion - I went to a wedding where their ceremony program was a fan.  I thought that was a clever way to do programs for an outdoor wedding.
  • Fainting from heat is even less manly than using a fan.  And guys know it.  Let everyone have a fan :)

  • Just a comment: I've performed the ceremony music for a lot of summer, outdoor weddings, and at the 3 that provided fans, most guests ended up using their programmes to fan themselves, because juggling the programme, fan, and (in two cases) glass of lemonade was too much.

    Just somthing to think about.

<div> I do have another favor I will be giving as well, but that s during the reception. Everybody is getting something! I would never offer hand fans only... </div>

I can't vouch for them b/c I haven't used them, but they look like a good idea!

Yes!  These look exactly like the ones my friend had at her wedding.  Brillant idea IMO

This is pretty much what we used for our program fans.  While I don't recommend that particular etsy printer (seriously, she takes 2 months to print, no communication), there are other etsy printers that offer similar designs.

The fans make an awesome keepsake too!
