family friends and invites

so we have a limited amount of space...well it's actually a limited budget...but we have some family friends we're inviting...i.e. mom, dad, kids.  well their kids are in college, so do i need to invite them with plus ones?  my friends from college are getting plus ones...but since they are "family" friends can i just invite them as a unit?

If they are single, you don't need to invite them with a guest necessarily, though if you have room it's always a nice gesture.

If they're over 18 they should get their own invitation addressed to them -- even if they're still living at home.

It is nice to extend a plus 1 to everyone regardless if they are dating or in a relationship if you can.
  • If you're giving everyone else who is in college a plus one regardless of relationship status they should get one too.  Everyone over the age of 18 gets their own invitation.  You only have to give plus ones to people in relationships, but the criteria shouldn't change based on whether they're your friends or family friends.

  • Plus-ones are required if someone is in a relationship (and an adult - I wouldn't give plus-ones to high school boyfriends, generally).  They're also highly suggested if one is in the wedding party, traveling, or won't know anyone else.  Beyond that, I think it's sort of all-or-nothing; I wouldn't give plus-ones to your college-age cousins but not to your parents' friends' college-age kids.
