Hats...

Is it bad etiquette for the Mother of the Groom to wear a hat if the Mother of the Bride is not?
I have no idea, but my M seems to think this is the case! Any help/opinions will help!

Re: Hats...

  • I would think that anyone can wear a hat if they want to.

  • I did some googling. I think you'd be fine wearing a hat even if MOB wasn't. Although if she's going to be super offended about it I'd probably respect her wishes.

It seems like hats are typically only worn in daytime weddings, though, so skip it if the wedding is in the evening.
  • huh? Is this some sort of old fashion thing, such as whatshertrollface with the white dress?

  • I think anyone can wear a hat.  The offended party probably just feels overshadowed, or maybe pressured to wear a hat?  Moms don't have to match.
