Good Friday

Morning everyone.  It was so hard to get out of bed.  If we weren't getting off work at noon today I think I would have called in.  How is everyone today?

Re: Good Friday

  • My alarm didn't go off this morning. I woke up on my own at 6:15, but that still meant that I didn't get any coffee before I had to race younger daughter to busstop by 6:50 (we live about 3.5 miles away from busstop. But I took a personal day today because I've got a solo at noon services today. So, I'm back home, coffee is brewing, and things are back on track.
  • 3.5 miles from the bus stop?  How is that even possible?  That sucks!  Good Luck at your solo today.
  • Good morning!

I'm just passing in to say hi.  H is going to Boston today so I'm dropping him off at the T station, then I have the whole day to myself until FSIL gets out of work and comes up (I'm staying at MIL's).  I think after this past week, a little retail therapy is in order.  Plus I have to pick up BIL's and FSIL's birthday presents at the mall.  It's cold out, but it's going to be a beautiful day.

  • Morning. I got here at my normal time but messed around online for like an hour. I couldn't clock in until 7 since I can't leave until 3:30. My truck is in the shop, so H had to drive me to work and I admit, it was nice getting that little extra time with him this morning since we hardly see each other due to crazy schedules. I wish we could drive to work together every morning.
  • Seshat, I used to love driving to work with my husband. That is quite impossible these days, since I work from 7-4 M-F, my husband works from noon or 1 until the restaurant closes. His "weekend" is Tuesday and Thursday. Yeah, we don't see a lot of each other.

Stacks, school buses won't drive into our subdivision; the roads are too narrow, twisty, and steep. It takes me 8 mintues to drive out of the subdivision. Not always convenient, but it sure is pretty around here.
  • It is Good Friday, isn't it?  I get to put together Baby Bee's first Easter basket this weekend.  =-)

  • Sesh - Mr Stack and I used to car pool and it was really nice.  We work so close to one another so it makes sense, but now that my schedule is all screwy so I can always take J to school during the week our schedules just don't match up anymore.  It's always nice spending time driving.

Sara that makes sense, definitely not always convenient, but I'd take scenery over convenience.  :)

Bay - are you all healed up?
  • Baby B's first Easter, how sweet!  I have no idea what I'm doing for Jocelyn's Easter basket.  She told me yesterday that she'll go see the Easter Bunny tomorrow and that she won't be afraid of him.  For some reason I have a feeling we'll get all the way there and she'll be afraid of him, but we'll see.  She freaked out just looking at Santas chair this year and he wasn't even in it.

  • Sara, I know how you feel. H works 7 days a week, most days until dark, then gets home and has to work on the equipment. I hate this time of year because it doesn't get dark until 8 or later. I recently started helping him with bookkeeping, which gives us some extra time together.

I miss Easter baskets. My mom makes the best ones ever. She used to hide them around the house and say the Easter Bunny left us clues on where to find them. I was never big on the egg hunt, but I did enjoy coloring them and making deviled eggs later in the day after they were all found.
  • Yeah, my girls have basically outgrown Easter baskets. I did get them both a dark chocolate bunny (and am kicking myself that I didn't get one for myself), but neither of them like deviled eggs or egg salad, so we are skipping coloring the eggs. When they were little I would get the plastic eggs and fill them with shelled pistachios. They both prefered that to candy, and I didn't feel the least bit guilty letting them take that to church to snack on during Easter services.
  • I love pistachios! I like at Christmas when they're green and red.
  • Hey ladies :)  Happy Good Friday!

I think we're working a half day too.  Well at least I told my dad I was working a half day. :P

Stack that's so funny, my niece did the same thing at Christmas time.  She was all excited the whole way to the mall, then when we got there she freaked out.  So funny how their little minds work.

  • Happy Earth Day/Good Friday!

There's a rumor floating around that we're leaving at 3, but we'll see.

Mrs. B, I noticed you're reading Outlander.  What do you think of it?

  • If either of the kids are home on Easter, my mom still makes us baskets. She's rather unhappy that I won't be giving her grandkids to enjoy the holidays with, and my brother is still young, so she entertains herself by giving us baskets. I'm not complaining, I love chocolate bunnies.
  • Hahaha Arbs that's great!

  • Arbs, I PPH you right now! That was awesome!
  • Happy Easter everyone (a few days early)!  I am levaing for NC tonight to spend the weekend with my family.  I know that my mom has candy for the grown-up kids (I'm hoping for some choclate covered pretzels), but actual presents for the little ones.

I've read it before many, many moons ago so it's not entirely new to me though it's been so long I doubt I'll remember much about it.  I'm in the third (maybe fouth) chapter where Claire is beginning to put two and two together that she's not in the 20th century.  So far, I'm really enjoying it.  And not because I'm having fun reading Jamie's lines outloud with a Scottish accent.  Nope.

  • Hi hoes.

I got my shellac taken off last night and I look like a crazy woman with jacked up nails right now.

Lots of work to do today. FI and I are going with my parents to pick up furniture and things of my mom's friend who passed away tonight. Does that sentence even make sense? Anyhoo her husband is cleaning up the house I guess and we have plenty of room so I said sure. I think a china cabinet and bookshelves and some other stuff.

    TGIF!!

Haha that's the best part!  I love Jamie.  Did you read the whole series many moons ago or just the first book?

That's nice, Rosie.  I love free stuff.

ETA:  After reading that it sounds weird.  Not nice that your moms friend passed away.  Nice that they're giving you guys furniture.  I'm sure you understood.  Just sayin'. :)

  • Also? I have been sick to my stomach over this:
    http://www.cnn.com/2011/CRIME/04/21/maryland.north.carolina.body.found/index.html?hpt=T2

    Poor family :(
The body was found 15 minutes from our house.

  • Rosie - I made a post for you last night.  It's down in the middle of the page somewhere.
  • Oh goodness, they finally found her. :(  So terribly sad.

I only made it through the first book.  My mom's read them all, though and loved them.  Thanks to Ghoti, I have them now on my Kindle.

I just saw it :) Thank you for posting that!

Ok no more debbie downer from me. Last night I got home and found FI out grilling up some JOT DOTS! and he bought cupcakes and the new HP movie for me. Not sure what inspired him to be sweet but I will take it!
