Bad Luck: Time of Ceremony??

All the women in my family have told me it is bad luck to get married on the hour and for that reason they all think the ceremony should start on the half an hour. They have all followed this with their own weddings....has anyone else ever heard of this...or is my family the only ones?????Jenn

Re: Bad Luck: Time of Ceremony??

  • i have heard this.  but like many other stilly traditions, we didnt follow it.  starting at 1130 would have cut into our reception tme, and 1030 was just too early with those traveling, etc.
  • I have heard of this but we are still having our wedding at 4pm.   I have also heard having an even number of attendants is bad luck, we are still having 6.  I am still VERY Certain our marriage is Not doomed for these silly 'bad luck' traditions.
  • wow, I'm getting married December 19th, also, getting married on the hour is not bad luck, first time I've heard of that, do what u feel
  • I've never heard of this and most weddings I've been to have started on the hour. Sounds silly to me.
  • Yep, heard/hear it constantly in the Midwest especially.
  • I am surprised.  I thought this was only an Asian tradition, for the same reason (minute hand goes upwards).
