Offering nanny service during the ceremony

What's the best way to message that we are offering private nanny service during the ceremony for children under 5 without offending parents? Thanks!

Re: Offering nanny service during the ceremony

  • I would note that childcare will be available on an insert in your invitations, and also on your wedding website, if you have one.
  • All I can think of is offering a kid check kinda like a coat check.

It's funny in my head, but I'm sure nowhere else.

  • Do they HAVE to use the nanny service?  Or are you okay with the parent bringing them to the ceremony?

You can't FORCE anyone to leave their child with a stranger.  I have two kids, and I'm totally fine with being invited places where they are not invited.  I either leave them with a trusted sitter or I decline the invitation.  I would NOT leave my kids with a nanny I do not know.  And I would feel very blindsided showing up to a wedding where my children were invited and then being told that they were not welcome at the ceremony.  I would probably turn around and leave if that happened.  I've never brought my kids to weddings anyway though...even when they were invited.

  • yeah I wouldnt ask parents to leave their kids with someone they dont know. My venue has a playground next to the pavillion where the reception will be, I am planning on bring in a babysitter or just asking a couple of my teenage cousins to watch the little kids there, but it will be close enough so that a parent will be able to see their kids from their tables.

I would just call up the parents with kids and let them know what you are thinking of doing and ask them if that works for them or is there anything else they would rather have for their kids? some families might take you for a ride with that, mines pretty cool and was appreciative that we had a playground.
