Good Price for Photographer?

I am stuck on finding a photographer, and since I couldn't find anywhere else to post this question....
The girl I am probably going to go with, does good work, very friendly, fun, etc. This is the package we would like to go with, but I am unsure if I am getting ripped off or if this is a good price. So far it seems as if I am getting more for the money with her:

Complimentary Engagement Session 8 Hours of Photography Coverage 1 Photographer (Erin Keough as main shooter) Digitally Corrected Photos on CD Free 10x13 print
20 Page Coffee Table Press Book
$1,300

That's a little bit less than we paid for ours, for 2 photographers, and 8 hours of coverage. Ours also included an engagement session. I think you're getting a good deal
  • That looks about equal to my package, we're paying $1200 for full day(2hrs before to end of reception), rights to all our images, and 5-6 dvds of all our corrected images.  We have one photographer and his assistant does minimal shooting to get a second angle (coming down the aisle, cake cutting etc) We don't get any prints or books with our package.

  • She has a package with 2 photographers at $1500 i believe, but is it worth it to go with 2??

  • Ours are a husband and wife team, so it would have been 2 no matter what. I think it will be, because her husband will be hanging out with FI and his groomsmen getting fun pictures of them while me and the bridesmaids are getting ready.
  • That sounds like a good price. And I definitely think it's worth it to get a second photographer if it's only $200 more. Our photographer was running around a lot and missed a lot of special moments. Having an extra person shooting would have helped.
  • Having a second photog for $200 more is great! I would have loved to have had a second one but they wanted an additional $400. Your package is very close to ours and sounds like a deal. Good luck!

  • That's around the same price that we're paying and we have virtually the same package.

  • I think that it's a good price.  These things are regional.  I'm paying more and getting:
-DVD with all edited photos (in high resolution files)
-8 hours of coverage and 1 shooter
    -3 prints
    -online gallery for 3 months
  • I think it's worth it to get a second photographer.  We just had our engagement shoot, and it was nice to see certain shots from different angles or using different lenses/focuses (close up v. wide angle).
  • I think that sounds like a very reasonable price.  Having 2 photographers was also a must for us, especially since we aren't doing a first look, it saves us on time.  One photographer will be in with the GM while they are getting ready, one will be with us.  One will capture FI's face and the other will capture mine as I'm coming down the aisle, etc.  For only $200, I'd definitely go for it.

  • Thanks ladies, after a small discussion and the standard response from my FI of "whatever you want"...I'm going to go for the 2nd photographer package.

  • Good choice! We have a similar package for $1500 with 2 photographers, father and son. Ours also comes with all of yours plus a bunch of 5 x 7's and the CD and rights to all the photos. Everyone I have talked to says 2 photographers are great because they shoot from different angles and one might get something the other missed.
  • Yep, I'm sold, more expensive package it is!

    Complimentary Engagement Session
    8 Hours of Photography Coverage
    2 Photographers
    Digitally Corrected Photos on CD
    Free 10x13 Print
20 Page Coffee Table Press Book Online Viewing Gallery
    24 Page Leather Bound Album
    $1,500!

Wow, that seems like an insanely good price!  I've browsed around for similar packages in my area, and from what I've seen, they're going for about $3K.
