XP re: DW's "At-Home" reception

FI's mom wants to host an At-Home reception for us 3 months after we return from our Las Vegas wedding. So, I have a few questions:

- do you think less of FI's family and friends will come to the LV for the real wedding if they know we are having something local?

- should we register?

- do we invite people to the at-home reception that weren't invited to he wedding? I really feel like we shouldn't, but money goes a long way here, and I think FMIL will want to make it a big party, because she already said she wants to get a band!

    1. I think 3 months is a little too far away from the wedding itself for an AHR. This is JMO.

    2. The AHR is just a party, if they want to see you get married, they'll be at the ceremony in Vegas.

    3. If you want to.

    4. Everyone invited the AHR must be invited to the ceremony. If you have a shower, you may only invite women who are invited to the ceremony. AHR doesn't count.

I agree about it being too long after the wedding, but because we live in Wisconsin, we can't do anything outside until about late-May/early-June. That is the only reason we are waiting that long, and I think guests will completely understand.
  • I have no advice to give, I just wanted to say that Camille, your son is SO. CUTE.

  • 1. Maybe

    2. Yes (a very small one).

    3. Since it sounds like you wedding isn't tiny (tiny=just parents & siblings), only invite those invited to the wedding to the AHR.
