any Domino's people out there?

We are ordering our first Domino's pizza tonight (first time ever down here).  They even deliver.  Although I somehow believe it will take an hour or so.

Anyway... How is the new recipe?    Also has anyone had the chocolate lava cake?  Is it as good as it looks?

  • I haven't had the chocolate lava, but somehow, I doubt it's as good as it looks on tv.  GL, though. I admire Dominoe's for realizing they sucked and doing something to change it. Also, I thought this post was going to be about playing dominoes, in which case I am a dominoes person.

  • I didn't like the new recipe. But lava cake?? I didn't know they had lava cake!! I want lava cake. I might go buy lava cake. It's my birthday, that's allowed, right?

  • Well, as the Colbert report pointed out, if you don't like the new recipe you can always eat the box it came in with some ketchup. That'll bring the old taste right back to ya ;)
  • Are they the ones who have the Regional pizzas?  If so, FI and I really like the Buffalo Chicken.  We always get it thin crust to deceive ourselves into believing it is healthy, and it is still really tasty.

The Lava cake is awesome (considering the source.)

I haven't had the new recipe in the US, but Dominos pizza is different in Australia than it is in the states.

  • oops... you should come down here.  They play some hardcord diminoes down here.  Lots of yelling and  slamming of the diminoes... It gets pretty heated.  I even drove by a  place on the side of the road where a guy was slumped over in his chair with a sheet over his body sitting at a diminoes table.  Not sure if he was killed over the diminoes game or not.  but I made a mental note not to play there just in case.

  • Oh dear. VI dominos sounds a little bit more hardcore than I'm prepared for. I'd probably get killed for playing the wrong one.

Happy Birthday.. and yes it is allowed.

Bad news - they are out of lava cake.  So typical of the VI.  I had to order wings to bring the amount above $20 in order to get deliver.  Oh well..

Nah.. you will be okay.  We have a tournament at the resort every Thursday.  None of our guests have been killed.  It's not as crazy as the local places.

  • Haven't had their new recipe, we tend to order from a small local shop.

But, I've tried making homemade from scratch pizza tonight, the results will be in shortly.  Make the dough from scratch and tomato sauce from my garden over the summer.  I'm kinda excited!

  • Haven't tried the new pizza they're working on. I'm curious to try it though.
I don't usually go the chain route. I live in a town with amazing local pizza places all over so that's where my money goes. Why just today I got an eggplant dough roll from one of them. Oh. My. Goodness.
I used to stack and knock over dominos but I've never played them like the actual game.
Night swimming in the ocean= pretty sweet reception!
  • sounds good Beans..  Can't wait to hear the outcome.

We have a local place we normally go to.  DH has fond memories of Dimino's from the states (not sure why when there are a ton of local places where he is from, but whatever).  He just wanted to try it out tonight for something else to do.  Plus the other pizza's cost at least $23 or more .

  • Ooh. Homemade pizza is a wonderful thing. Hope it turns out good!

  • Turned out pretty good for the first time ever.  Forgot to put cornmeal underneath the dough on the paddle, and then left the paddle on the hot pizza stone on the stovetop (cause I needed to take it out to get the pizza unstuck) and warped the paddle, but otherwise it was pretty good.  Thick crust and not enough toppings, so next time try for a thinner crust and more toppings.

It was surprisingly easy.  Same amount of time to put it together as it would be to wait for the delivery guy.  Assuming the crust and sauce are already made up, which I'll probably make a bunch and freeze for next time now.
  • The new pizza is delicious. They put garlic on the crust, so it tastes like garlic bread. And the new sauce is better than the old, IMO.

Love the choc lava cakes too!

  • that is great Beans.

Our delivery guy showed up in 59 minutes.  I have to laugh because they say 'You GOT 30 MINUTES".   Then there is disclaimer saying it is just an estimate and it might take more tiime.   I guess on the island that means double the time.

  • I thought their new recipe was delicious and definitely much better than how the pizza used to take.
  • We ordered Dominos on New Years Eve.  It was the only place delivering at 11pm.  I was pleasantly surprised.  I had pretty low expectations.  We got some pacific veggie pizza on thin crust and it tasted decent.  The lava cakes are OK.  A little crunchy though.
