any other Hunger Games readers...

I heard they are throwing around the idea of having Kristin Stewart/Bella Swan play Katniss in the Hunger Games movie(s).  I'm a huge Twilight fan but I'll be royally f-ing pissed if they make her Katniss. 

She is too weak in my mind... or maybe she just plays weak Bella so well.... idk

Exactly.  I really want the movie but if she is the lead, I think I might boycott.  Plus she is 20 and Katniss is supposed to start out at 16 so...

and I heard someone wanting Taylor Launter as Gale.... um no!

I just don't see that happening. Last time I saw, there were, like, three other actresses in the running, and none of them were Kristen Stewart.

As for her being 20, but Katniss being 16- when has that ever stopped anybody from casting older? They never cast by age, otherwise Gossip Girl, etc. wouldn't be full of actors in their mid-twenties.

I'm obsessed with the series. I've got H reading it, and my younger brother too.

If they make Kristin Stewert Katniss, it will seriously ruin the entire series for me. I've read all of Twilight and seen all the movies, and the Hunger Games is leaps and bounds better written and thought out than Twilight, at least in my opinion. Katniss and Bella are polar opposites.

I think she would be ill cast.  They have something in Entertainment Weekly almost every issue.  They are saying that Robert Downey Jr. may play Haymitch.

I think he'd be ill-cast. Sherlock Holmes is the only movie that I can remember in the last several years turning off mid-way through.

She would ruin Katniss. I really hope they pick someone else. KS always looks so awkward, uncomfortabe, and scared most of the time. She is the anti-Katniss.

Ideally, I don't want it to be a movie because they are guaranteed to ruin it. Would they actually have the kids killed? I doubt it, if they want to appeal to a younger crowd. I think Hollywood would make it too gentle, if that makes sense. No way would they ever make that scene in the last book with the parachute bombs.

I also heard something about Hugh Laurie being case as Haymitch.  I like that better than Robert Downey Jr. 

I think they need an unknown for Katniss.  If it's even remotely a sucess like the books are, I think they will have the next "Kristin Stewart" on their hands.

Well, it's not like you let anything integral out, but I like going into books completely unaware. Which is weird, because I have no problem reading movie/TV spoilers and recaps before I watch them.

I'm the same way, although I have a tendency to skim the next page during exciting parts to see what happens before I actually get there. Then I kick myself for doing so. But with movies I usually look up all the trivia and other randomness on imdb first.

I love Twilight, but KS should NOT play this role.  Do you even think she would want to?  There are so many comparisons between HG and Twilight that I would think she'd want to get out of that whole world of teen sensations.

TL as Gale is a bad idea as well, but since I have such an old lady crush on him I won't hate on it too much.  Haha.

I'm also nervous that they will sanitize HG if they make it into movies.  Could it even be rated PG or PG-13 with all of the killing and violent deaths?  Unlike Twilight, HG actually has fighting and conflict; would that go over well with this crowd?  I assume they are targetting the same Twilight audience.  Have the HG books garnered as large a fanbase as Twilight?

Yeah, I just don't see how they can do the books justice. They are violent right from the get-go. Even if you don't show anything, the idea is still disturbing.

And KS is just NO. I'd prefer unknowns just because when they turn books into movies, I hate associating the actor/actress with the book character. It ruins it. I used to love Ella Enchanted until they made that terrible movie.

Guys. They've been saying this since the books had the movie rights optioned She's just the go-to name for YA books into film because of Twilight. The likelihood of her actually being cast as Katniss, or even seriously auditioned for the role seems slim to none.

I'd could see it binge whatsherface from Vampire Diaries. And the only way I picture Gale is as Gaspard Ulliel playing the character.

I really enjoyed the first 99% of Hunger Games, but I wasn't satisfied with the ending.  I'll leave it at that in this thread, though; I don't want to spoil it! 

I can't see Hunger Games working as a family film.  The premise is just too dark.

I think they need a nobody to come into Katniss, Peeta and Gale's roles.  I really do.

Alix, I just kinda fell in love with you for knowing who Anberlin is. Very few people I know do. I could see him being Peeta. Or someone who looks like that anyways.

Kira, I really liked the ending too. I loved MJ, well I loved all of them but I felt satisfied with that one.

Alix, they've been one of my favourite bands since they came out with NTFP but barely any one I talk to has heard of them. You're from Canada right?  Have you seen them play here? I know they've only done a few shows and they've got a few stops during this tour. I saw them in Toronto a couple years ago but I can't make it next week.

No I haven't ever seen them. I didn't even know they were coming. Ticketmaster fails miserably with me. I missed Muse when they were here too.

And I love the Peeta pick, Alix, but I picture Gale to be more rugged.

I picture Finnick to be more...



But I know that's impossible, since he's got more important things to worry about.
