Invite friends siblings??

Hello!

I am trying to figure out if I should be inviting my friends siblings. For example, one of my best friends from high school has a brother and a sister. I plan to invite the best friend and her parents, but I don't know if it would be inappropriate to not invite her siblings. I know who they are, they know me, but we never hung out and I honestly don't even think they would want to go. Also my other best friend has a brother, who my sister dislikes and I don't know that well either, but I am inviting her parents and her of course, would it be rude to not include her brother??

Re: Invite friends siblings??

  • do you want to invite her siblings? Can you afford to invite her siblings?
  • I really think it depends upon your relationship with them.  I'm inviting my MOH's little sister, parents, aunt and nephew because I practically grew up in her house and consider them a third family.  But I'm not inviting her older brother because he had already moved out by the time we started high school and now lives clear across the country.

Unless your friend's siblings live at home -- in which case I would simply invite the family, and let them choose who to RSVP -- I think you're fine to leave them off the guest list.

  • Since you don't seem to actually have a relationship with those people; if the siblings are adults and not living at home, then I think it's fine not to invite them.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • If you aren't friends with their siblings, you don't need to invite them.  The same goes for their parents.  Unless you grew up together or something, it would be bizarre to invite your friends' parents.
  • Leave the siblings out.  I invited my bridesmaids parents because they all have had a significant impact on my life and been very good to me through the years. I left their siblings out since we just aren't that close.
