Don't have one planned.  The ILs have a timeshare in the Keys over Christmas so we might go there, but only if they happen to offer to help with airfare as our Christmas gifts.

• Where did you go for your honeymoon? We took a mini moon to banff and lake louise for 4 days as we only had a budget of $1000-$1500.  Then we had a big roadtrip honeymoon 6 months later.  We started in Calgary and did a big circle through the mountains.

What was your favorite part? My sister and her boyfriend "crashed" our honeymoon and took us for a really nice expensive fondue dinner.  It was nice to get out of the hotel/castle.

Roadtrip honeymoon - kelowna was awesome.  i love wine tours.

Favorite meal? The fondue!  Other than that we just ate at one of the restaurants, I think I had a pasta.  H had lamb or something.

Hmm.  We went to a BBQ joint one night, that was fun.  We had an awesome steak dinner another night.  I can't pick.  We ate really well most of the days, except for when we were on the road.

Where are you going for your next vacation? Vegas in Feb and Italy in May.

What are you most looking forward to about it? I'm excited to show my husband vegas.  I've been 3 times, he's never been.  And I know he's going to love it.  He loves going anywhere.

Italy - OMG.  I am looking forward to cinque terre.

• Where did you go for your honeymoon? Park City, Utah

What was your favorite part?  Everything.  Snow (we were there in November), mountains, nice people, snowboarding, our suite with a hot tub outside.

Favorite meal?  I can't even remember what we ate.  But we had some awesome local beer.

Where are you going for your next vacation?  I believe NYC in December.  Nothing big, just a weekend.

What are you most looking forward to about it?  My H's first time going, so I'm excited for him to see the things that he's never seen.
Georgia:  How did you like Sandals overall?  I was way too excited & booked there before reading reviews on Trip Advisor which have been mixed.  Even though you were in Jamaica & we'll be in Antigua, I'd be curious what you thought.  Sometimes TA is right on & others it sounds like people are bitchiing for really stupid reasons.
Posted by jcbsjr
The service at Sandals was great. We were in the original resort (first Sandals built), so the buidlings, etc. were a little older. But they made up for it, and there were a lot of group activities, and the evneing shows were okay (definitely more local and not cruise-ship production levels). And now that I think about it, we loved lunch everyday, it was just the "menu" food at dinner that we didn't care for. The buffets were fine, and the beach shack that served food all day was good.

I probably wouldn't go to Sandals Montego Bay again, but I'd definitely go to a newer Sandals in a heartbeat.
•
In Response to Re: Poll: Honeymoon/Travel : GB if you go to Charleston in April make sure I give you the low down on everything before you go. I'll tell you where to eat, what to see, what there is to do.
Posted by mandapanda78
Sweet!! I used to go to Charleston every May for the Southern Conference tourney (with the baseball team), but we always ate at crappy Forrest Gump's and Wild Wing.

I'd love to make our next trip more authentic. The more I think about it, the more I want this to happen. I might have to run it by B tonight.
• Where did you go for your honeymoon?
Fl Keys. We stayed in Marathon.

What was your favorite part?
One, that H and I finally had time just the 2 of us, no work or anything else. Two, meeting the sea lion and getting to pet her.

Favorite meal?
A friend surprised us with a gift card to this awesome restaurant on the water. I had one of the best pasta dishes ever.

Where are you going for your next vacation?
Disney.

What are you most looking forward to about it?
Getting a vacation with H, our first just the 2 of us aside from the HM (meaning, not going to see family or other stuff). Plus going to Hollywood Studios. I haven't been there in years.
• Where did you go for your honeymoon?
We spent time in Disney after our destination wedding there and then took a Caribbean island hopping cruise.

What was your favorite part?
Disney... Well everything about Disney is my favorite <3... I loved eating in Cinderella's Castle during fireworks and having the amazing view... and then the perfect photo op of the castle H and I got after it was blocked off to the public. I didn't care for the meal at Victoria & Albert's, but it was definitely an experience we will never forget.
Cruise... I loved the adventurous part of it of seeing volcanoes, swimming in the emerald pool, waterfalls, etc, but I also LOVED the days where we sat on the beach all day and did NOTHING!

Favorite meal?
Disney... I loved the personalized menu's at Narcoossee's... it's one of our fave restaurants.
Cruise...Post cruise we spent two nights in Puerto Rico and ate at Morton's Steakhouse at the hotel the last night - it was to die for!

Where are you going for your next vacation?
Well our next vacation after our honeymoon was a family vacation to Cancun that already happened. H and I are going back to Disney for our 1 year anniversary in Jan and then Europe in August!

What are you most looking forward to about it?
Disney... everything <3... seeing the new harry potter world @ islands of adventure is going to be super exciting, and for the first time in YEARS splash mountain is not going to be closed for refurbishment while we are there!
Europe... every freakin thing! I'm excited to see the pyramids in Egypt, Greece, spend a few nights in Rome, and swim in the dead sea in Israel!

•
A few of my GF's did a cruise for our senior trip in h.s. and one of our stops was Jamaica.  We actually let our cab driver take us through some back areas and to his house b/c we wanted to see real pot growing. He took us to his house b/c he said we would get shot trying to look at one of the big fields.  WTF were we thinking?  Jamaica has lost its appeal. Georgia: Thx for the info.  I feel a little better now.
Posted by jcbsjr
I always take the online reviews with a grain of salt, because I know personally, I would probably only take the time to write one if I had a bad experience. People who had great times usually don't think to review accordingly.

Besides the food and scenery and all the wine at sidewalk cafes, it made me fall in love even more with my husband to see how much he loved it and how similar our traveling styles were.  Travel is my passion and I was so happy to share his first trip to Europe with him.

The food in San Sebastian is to die for.  It is so close to the South of France and has the most Michelin starred restaurants per capita.  But we could not get enough of this tapas place in the corner of a plaza that used to be a bullfighting ring.  My favorite tapas were the foie gras ravioli in a creamy mushroom sauce and the baguette with a big slice of foie gras, iberico ham, and a balsamic drizzle.  And they were about $3 each.

We are going to San Diego this weekend for our anniversary.  I am looking forward to the ZOO and the pandas!

• Where did you go for your honeymoon?  Costa Rica.

What was your favorite part?  Watching the volcano by our hotel erupt on our porch.

Favorite meal?  A tuna dinner at our last hotel.  The tuna was fantastic.

Where are you going for your next vacation?  Las Vegas with my mom, grandma and aunt.  Leaving this Saturday.  And then Cancun in May with another couple.

What are you most looking forward to about it?  Making sure my mom has the best time of her life. She only went one other time, in the 70's with her girlfriends. And when my asshole dad dropped her off at the airport he was all "By the way, I lost my job yesterday.  Have a good time." So needless to say, she had a really stressful, sh*tty time on that trip.  As far as Cancun, eating until my stomach bursts and relaxing out in the sun on the beach with some of my favorite people in the world.

• We're retracing our heritage, starting with a trip to the Vatican and meandering around Rome, then travelling around Slovenia and Germany. We're meeting some distant relatives in both Slovenia and Germany who will hopefully show us around.

I'm really looking forward to some pizza and wine in Italy, and schnitzel in Germany. The only thing I know about Slovenian cuisine is sausage and potica, which I like but I don't know what else to expect :D

All in all I'm most excited about meeting these relatives, but also for going to the Vatican. We're going to receive the papal blessing for newlyweds and we might even get to meet the pope himself, which would just be amazing!

We might be hitting up Niagara falls this winter, or Vegas next summer, who knows!?
