When to start calling

I'm not near my rsvp date, its July 20th. But I have already seen a trend. Most of my family and "my side" guests have been rsvping, and if they havent sent it in they have called to comment on the invite/discuss that they are sending it in.
We received one from fiances side of the family.

So I am just foreshadowing here--- and guessing that I will have SOME people to call once July 20th has come and gone.
when is the appropiate time to call?
A week later?
Our final numbers are due August 1 to the caterer.

I'd start calling a week before you have to give your final numbers in. Anyone who hasn't gotten back to you by then gets marked as if they have decline.

I'd start calling about 3 days after your RSVP date to leave a couple more mail delivery days for people who mail it out last minute.

The appropriate time to call then would be AFTER July 20th but BEFORE August 1st.  Don't call before the RSVP by date.

I would start contacting people the Monday or Tuesday following your RSVP date.  For us we had a few people we had to find their contact info and call a few times before we got a hold of them.  Also, you get a ton of RSVPs back that last week and the Monday/Tuesday after the response date.

Side Note: The time frame on your post has me realizing how little time there is between my consin's wedding, my SIL shower(s), my bday, and a family reunion.

ETA: I swear I wasn't drinking when I typed this up originally (for those who saw it before I edited.)

Goobers -- that was kind of a Blinding Flash of the Obvious comment.

OP, I started e-mailing folks the day after RSVPs were due. I like to jump the gun like that. PPs are right that you will probably get a bunch the day or two after RSVPs are due so if you have time to wait, go for it, but I don't think it's horrible to contact them as soon as the date passes.

I would also wait 2 or 3 days after the 20th, then start contacting people.

july 20 is a friday.  id start calling people monday the 23rd.

I realized that the 20th is a Friday. So i think I will wait until the middle of ht enext week. I am SURE people will send them out on Saturday.
I usually am the first one to say "don't harp on someone dumb comment" on these boards-- but honestly, I read goobers thing and was like "seriously!"
