Engagement party - gift for hostess

A good friend is hosting an engagement party for FI and I on Friday (yay!!)
I was going to send her flowers as a thank you - but thinking of sending them ahead of time so that they're in her place for the party.

Do you think that's a nice gift, or should we get her something else as well? Suggestions welcome and appreciated.

As long as she likes flowers, I think it's a good gift. I might be biased because I love recieving flowers.

I sent flowers to the hostess of my shower & my BM who helped her plan it.  I sent them the day after the shower.
