Taxes are done!

Well, I spend the morning/afternoon doing our taxes and they are done and filed.  I think DH owes me Buffalo Wild Wings for this.  What are you ladies up to today?

I'm hungry and now we gotta do DS's FAFSA before Friday.  Can't wait.....

I spent my day sorting out staffing issues for the summer camp I run. I now have to clean out one of our bathrooms because it's getting redone starting tuesday but I'm procrastinating hardcore. I'm also going out tonight to check out a new synchronized skating team to join.

ETA: I'm up in canada, so what does FSFSA stand for?

  • We did ours a few weeks ago and already got our refund. I was very excited b/c I have always been an April 14th gal. Hahaha! Just hanging out watching tv and puttering around online today on the sofa with my husband b/c he leaves again tomorrow for at least a month.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • kristbot- the FAFSA is the form college students fill out for gov't financial aid (grants, student loans) for college.  It includes the parents tax return information.  It is long, tedious, and I'm not looking forward to it.  Pretty sure DS is gonna have a lack of patience when we get started but it's his education, he can fill that sucker out with me.

DH is mulling over those wings....he loves wings.  He'll cave shortly.

<div>Wait until he's in grad school and has to do it on his own.  Good news for you - your finances are no longer considered after undergrad.</div><div>
</div><div>I actually sort of enjoyed my taxes this year.  I took some deductions that my university told me were only valid for 2011 (I graduated in May 2012)... but I've been practicing a lot of tax law recently, so I looked up the regs - I was totally vindicated.  But I'm pretty sure about 95% of students don't take those deductions (since their schools usually don't report them on the 1098), so I might get audited.  Bring it on... so far I'm batting 1000 against the IRS.</div>

<div>Oh that sounds like OSAP up where I am. I had to do all that when I was in school but I was always denied because on paper it looked like my parents made a lot of money when they didn't. </div>

  • Wow, I'm jealous.  I don't even have all of my paperwork for RRSP's and such from the bank yet.  Should start trickling in in the next few weeks or so

  • I did mine a few weeks ago. I should be getting my return soon and I'm booking our room for our research vacation this summer (destination wedding) with it so I SUPER excited.

I'm waiting for FI to give me his stuff so I can do his and he can pay for the gas it will take us to get 4,000 miles. On second thought, maybe I'll wait until the last minute so he has less time to spend it. :)

Congrats! And I hope you get your wings! :)

[QUOTE]DH & I got a China cabinet for about 60% off the original price and spent a good part of today unpacking our new china & putting it into the cabinet.  We're both in our mid 30s, but something abobut that made us both feel really grown up.

<div>I'm super excited to register for china! My FI doesn't understand why, but I just think when we start a registry it will really sink in that the we're getting married :)</div>

  • We don't have any china! I wonder if we should get some, but I really don't think we need it.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Taxes are done! : We actually did last night!!  We had a Groupon to a new pizza place, so I went to pick it up.  I got home and DH had transformed our patio into a romantic setting.  He took his grilling prep table, put a tablecloth on it, had candles lit, used the nice stemware for wine and our china for pizza.  And it was all as the sun was setting.  I'll upload the picture once dropbox decides to share the  pics.   So, yeah - we're adults.  Even though we ate pizza on our china.  ETA - picture of our china being used for the first time!!!

</div><div>THAT. Is adorable. I love that the hubs did that! So cute!</div>
  • I listed my house for sale Friday and it was shown for the first time today. I will be sooo thrilled if I can sell it before the wedding. I was surprised to feel a little sad when I first saw the for sale sign in the yard.

  • Our taxes have not only been filed, but our federal return has already come and gone Cry

Granted, the money went to kickstart paying off the last leg of our non-house-or-car-related debt, so it's a good thing ... but just the same it was pretty depressing to see that money in our bank account for only 2 seconds, lol.

I'm hanging out on my couch catching up on "Merlin", having a cocktail and waiting for my Stouffer's lasagna to finish in the oven. I lead such a fascinating life, I know.

*I felt sorry for my husband before I met him. Take a number.*

  • So cute that you ate pizza on your china.  :)
We aren't registering for any ... my mom has a ton that she said we can have, but she also says she never uses it lol.
Our tax refund has also come and gone....BUT it has gone toward an awesome HM and wedding, so that's nothing but exciting.
Hope everyone has a funday Monday.  :(
