Wording on shower invitations

Should the grooms name appear on shower invitations?  This is not a couples shower.

  • Nope, he doesn't need to be on there.

I have seen some invitations worded this way, though:
Please join us for a shower honoring
    Bride Name
    bride elect of Groom Name
    etc.

But I don't think it's at all common or necessary.

If the invited guests to the shower don't know the groom's name, they should not be invited
  • I have seen it similar to what Leisel posted.  Usually that's when the shower is for his side and they may not know the bride well enough to place her without him.
