Good morning! Where is everyone?

I know you aren't on TN...!

How's everyone's weekend?

Re: Good morning! Where is everyone?

  • Hey Mica, I am here.  I just do not like TN format.  What are you up to today?
  • Morning.

My weekend is work, work and more work.  I just finshed 4 days of work and I have 5 more  until a day off.  My poor feet are killing me.   They are just not use to me standing all day in heels.

Of course, DH has the whole weekend off.

Oh Lynda, it seems like lately it is feast or famine for you girl!  I wear suits to work everyday and thus wear heels also.  I have found that if I go with a thicker (blockier) not so spikey heels I do much better.  I can still go tall but without the foot pain....am I making sense?......:: off to find picture of typical shoes::
  • Ouch Lynda.

My only plans for today are exercise, groceries and dragging H to see the house I like.
  • Me too, ski, Me too!  If its a think heel, its usually more painful than a thicker heel.

Also, I buy insert thingies that have arch support and toe cushions and it helps immeasurably.  I've had shoes go from unwearable to just fine with the addition of an arch support cushion.  They sell them at drug stores and Target for about $6 bucks, Lynda
  • Mica, I like the kind of day your are going to have....I am watching a cooking shows right now.  My kids came home from college last night so I have mounds of laundry, and tons of "mommy" desire to cook, cook, cook!  But I have hours still as they will not wake prior to noon.

We are going to the science center and planetarium later today...they have two new exhibits...woot woot!
  • My shoes are all thick heeled.  You have to remember I didn't wear ANY shoes for 13 years on the boat.

Good call on the inserts. I think I will stop by Wal-greens on my way in to work.

I wish I was working the 6am shift today.  DH is still sleeping anyway. Instead I'm working 11-7:30 and then back in at 7am tomorrow.  Oh well, it will all work out.  It will just take time to get use to the new schedule.

  • Blah.  I just got up, it snowed last night, and H is super sick.  We were supposedt o have a fun weekend and obviously now we can't, and I feel so bad for him.  I really should go out and shovel...but I don't want to.

Morning. We're going to our friend's bday gathering this afternoon which will include bowling and just general hanging out. He and his wife are bringing their little baby for part of it which FI and I are excited about. Then tonight we have our other friends' holiday party with good food and slight dressing up. FI is back to work tomorrow. Sorry to all the women standing at work all day in high heels. My feet cannot handle real heels. I dress formally at work but tend to wear shoes on the flatter side. Back to lazing around with FI on his one day off. Enjoy your day, ladies.
  • Morning! I'm here. I also woke up to snow this morning which puts a damper on running my errands while FI is at work. He'll be home around noon though and then we're off for sushi lunch with his BM whose in from OOT for an early family xmas.

We finally got our tree on Thursday night so I want to get that decorated today as well.

Good luck with the foot pain Lynda, inserts are definitely your friend.

  • Morning! I went out with work friends last night and ended up having too many long islands and shots. I'm paying for it this morning.
  • I third the waking up to snow... puts a damper on my day, as I allotted extra time for breakfast this morning which I had to skip to make sure I wasn't late for work since there clearly hadn't been any plows or salt trucks on the road yet. I don't think anyone was really expecting anything to stick (weatherman last night said "slight chance of flurries overnight").

It's still coming down, so I don't know what FI and I are going to do today. We were supposed to go see the "zoo lights", but we'll see.
  • I really want it to snow here. We're stuck with a stupid inversion. The storms just keep going around us. Our ski resorts can't even open yet.
  • Also, did anyone see this (CLICKY)? The Duggars are sharing photos of the miscarried infant (named Jubilee Shalom)?

It was "supposed" to be private, but apparently got leaked by a family member. And now there is a picture on their website as well. It's nothing too shocking - not the whole miscarried fetus or anything (to my knowledge), but still a little morbid IMO.
  • Good morning!  I just put the pork loin in the spice rub from the recipe Loopy gave me, so hopefully we'll be having delicious pulled pork tomorrow night.  I just sewed my glasses back together.  I feel like MacGyver.  H and his dad are building a handrail for the deck to make the insurance company happy, and I have plans to do nothing.  I'm excited.  Maybe I'll do a little cleaning.

  • Morning guys. I have a question and I am leaving in ten minutes. My dad is always a little short on money, but he thinks that in order to see my brother, he needs to take us out somewhere to eat. I always try to pay but he doesn't let us, but just last week he was saying how broke he is. I feel so bad. Then last night, my brother called and said Dad wants to take us out. I don't know what to do! I sort of want to get there early and tell the waitress to just put it on my card, but I also don't want to make my dad feel bad. What should I do?!
  • Can you suggest an alternative activity?

  • Well I kept telling my Dad that I will make breakfast at my house but he kept saying how sad he was that my brother never invites him over. My brother has been working 6 days a week for the past few months but my Dad is sort of sensitive and always feels like no one has time for him. I don't want to offend him but I also don't want to make him feel like he has to pay just to see us.
  • Ugh.  I am in the midst of a serious coughing fit, which I cannot shake. Cough medicine, salty soup, water, numbing cough drop-- non of it is helping.  Pretty sure I am developing bronchitis which is the massive suck.
  • Snippy, you need some cough syrup with codeine.
  • aaahhh, get there early and have the waitress put it on your card.  If your dad gives you crap, tell him to get over it.  It is your turn to pay!  Enjoy him!

Dr. Mica, can you send some to me?

Bah.  I'm sure I'll have to make a visit to the doctor this week.
  • Snippy - have you tried a croup tent?  I used one a few months ago when I had bronchtis, and it really helped.  Put a large pot on your stove, add water and lemon juice, then boil.  When it's boiling, shut the heat off, and put your head over the pot, and a blanket over your head.  It also works amazing with Vicks VapoRub.

I just finished baking the house pieces for 4 gingerbread houses, but am at an unplanned stopping point.  I have no cookie cutters or meringue powder here.  I could go buy some, but I'll be at my parents tomorrow, where they are.

Plans for today are to totally clean the house and finish wrapping presents.  My parents, sister, BIL and nephews are supposed to come over tonight for dinner, early presents, and so we can go to see lights in the park, but (no surprise) my sister isn't answering her phone, and never responded to the emails from me or my mom.  So, I have no clue how much food to cook.  She would definetly fail E, even though she thinks she is perfect at E.
  • Snippy, if I thought I could get you Robitussin with codeine (probably illegal to ship internationally) faster than you can get a doctor's appointment and prescription, I would.
  • Good morning! I tried to post last night but apparently too much wine and dinosaur shaped pumpkin muffins made me incapable of that task! The Duggers gross me out. With or with out a miscarried baby. Although I do understand the grieving process is different for everyone. Today we have a fun holiday family party to go to at 4. Yes fun and family party in one sentence.it's at Ell's cousin's so it's going to be a drunk feast! I love my in laws, and am so lucky.

  • Good morning everyone. Feel better Snippy! I have to go into the office today to finish up some things, not too excited for that. Hopefully after next week things slow down a bit.

It will be interesting to see how fast I can get an appointment.  I'll guess sometime late next week if I call on Monday.
  • Good morning. I've had a lazy morning so far. I like just being able to lay on the couch and watch movies with FI. I noticed I tend to do more cleaning and be more motivated on Sundays than Saturdays.

We have to go exchange a movie for FMIL's present. FI picked the wrong one up. After that we are going to head to Disney.

I want to stop by my friend's house to drop off stuff for the new baby but I don't want to intrude. They were just able to bring her home Wednesday after being in the NICU for several weeks. Maybe I can just leave it on the front porch.
