Posted by Brandi0714I haven't eaten meat since I was 8, so I'm a pretty poor judge, but from what I hear the Quorn brand has a texture that's really close to poultry. The Morningstar Farms BBQ riblets are apparently just like McD's McRib, but who knows how meaty the original is, ha. I'd take any imitation beef stuff like veggie burgers with a grain of salt. It seems like it's easier to mimic birds than beasts.

Thanks, I'll have to try to use that for taco's or something soon.
  • Buffalo chicken sandwich, potato chips, and a Dr. Pepper from Subway.  I've been so bad all week--fast food for lunch every day.  Seriously need to hit the grocery store.

  • Oh yea, Poli makes a good point on the veggie burgers. Those don't taste at all like real burgers. I still prefer my veggie burgers though since I always felt icky after real burgers.

I've seen TVP powder in the stores and wanted to try it. Do you just add water? Does it turn into a meaty texture?

[QUOTE]Pasta frittata again :)  Apple, chobani, gorp.  Grop is simple trail mix: peanuts, raisins, chocolate.

Tell me about this pasta frittata. What's in it? Do you reheat it in the microwave?

I'm not sure what's for lunch. I was going to make eggs and hashbrowns but I don't think I have time. H and I are going to orientation for school in an hour. He starts in 11 days!

[QUOTE]About a half pound of pasta (cut spaghetti is what I use), 7 eggs, zucchini, onion.  a lot of people add chese.  Baked in 400* oven until a knife came out clean.  Then I reheat it, usually for about 60-90 seconds.

Thanks for sharing, I was curious yesterday when you mentioned the fritatta!

I just finished a bean soup I made in the slow cooker and froze. It turned out really well, I'm going to have to keep it in the rotation. Also had a white cheddar Babybel and some baked lays.

<div>I know I'm not Poli but the kind I've used you add water and cook it in a skillet. It's not exactly a meaty texture really (to me) but I guess it's close. </div>
  • Sounds healthy and tasty! I've been wary of heating up eggs in the microwave but I might have to try that.

What I really want is this: Broccoli Bacon Bowl. We had it a couple of days ago and it was so good.
  • Marinated flank steak, Dutch oven potatoes with bacon, mushroom soup, and onions, fruit salad with sweet lime dressing, tomato mozzarella salad.

Thanks, work! I love free lunch on Wednesday.
  • I had a krispy bar and Dr. Pepper for 'brunch.' I am awful.

Had face 'peeled' this AM with a different kind of peel (SkinMedica) than I've had before and it was AWESOME. Didn't even hardly tingle, but they promise it will peel by the weekend. The ones they used to offer at this place were not so much fun; this was NBD at all and took about 7 minutes.

We had an awesome rain shower last night and I finally got some sleep! YAY!

  • Lunch was a gyro and salad from the deli next door.  I need to figure out where I can get whole vanilla beans and fleur de sel for the cheesecake.  My boss is out on Friday, so I'm guessing she's not going to bother doing anything for my last day.

  • Glo-  do you still struggle to not eat meat?  My step-mom has given up meat but she struggles often because of my Dad.  I worry I won't be able to stick to it because of H.
  • I have no idea what I want for lunch... we have leftover baked ziti in the fridge, but I don't think I'm feelin' it, so I may get a hoagie or something.

<div>Nope, I struggled with it for about a year but I don't crave it at all anymore. I'm also a better cook now though so there's that. I think partly why I struggled with it was because I was focusing on what I couldn't eat (steaks, chicken fries, etc.) instead of all the things I could eat. </div>
  • No TJ's here :(  I'm going to call Whole Foods and see if they have it.  There's also a specialty oil/spice store at the mall that I'll try.

  • Rach - I prefer WP. I've done blogs on Blogger, and find it clunkier. I also hate Blogger's comment functionality, though WP has had its issues there, too.

I've actually been thinking about re-starting mine, too. It's been a year probably! I just wish I could make it more routine than I know I actually will. I keep toying with the idea though.

I order my vanilla beans from Amazon (link below) - the shipping is pretty fast to my neck of the woods.

I need them tonight, so shipping would have to be warp speed.  Thanks though!  Nothing like waiting until the last minute.

WP - Blogger sucks. End of story.
  • Whole Foods is my hero!  They have both items.  Now I'm just scared to see how much they'll cost.
