Bridal Shower/Bachelorette Party

I am in TN and having a FL wedding. I would love to invite some co-workers to a shower/ party, but don't know if I should invite them to the wedding knowing they won't come. Should I just suck up the cost of the invites or not?

Also how do you invite a few without hurting others feelings?

Re: Bridal Shower/Bachelorette Party

  • You can't invite anyone to a pre-wedding party if they're not going to be invited to the wedding.  You would also be surprised at how many people will travel to weddings so if you really, really want them at the wedding, invite them and leave it up to them as to whether or not they'll come.

  • Also, get the home addresses of the co-workers you're inviting and mail them their invitations instead of giving them to them at work.  (That probably goes without saying, except that I actually saw someone hand invitations out at work in an office I used to work in - it was so, so awkward.)

  • Yes, it is incredibly rude to invite someone to any pre-wedding event (shower, bach party, etc.) and not invite them to the wedding.  Whether you think they won't be able to make it to the wedding has nothing to do with it - you MUST send an invite. Even if they told you they can't go - you MUST send an invite. Why? Because sometimes things things change and people are able to go.

Also, it's perfectly okay to invite some co-workers and not others, just be very careful so as not to hurt any excluded co-worker's feelings.  #1 - do NOT talk about the wedding or pre-wedding events at work AT ALL. #2 - send invitations to their home. #3 - mention to the co-workers who are invited that you did not invite the whole office and you would appreciate it if she kept the invite confidential.
