If you would like to laugh at my awkward situation... or give me advice :)

Background: FIs dad has been in and out of the picture, in and out of jail, definitely not a "father-son" relationship. FI's mom died about 4 years ago, and they were divorced years before that. FI's dad basically stopped any parenting at that point. He will disappear for months at a time. Until the other night we hadn't spoken to him since Christmas.

FI's uncle called us about the wedding and FI's dad happened to be around and want to talk to us (a rare occurrence).  FI's dad then mentioned that he was brining a "big tittied stripper" as his uninvited guest (FI insisted no guest). Off the top of my head I said "Well, make sure to RSVP with her name so I can make her a proper place card"

FI is convinced he is joking, and we haven't received his RSVP (honestly, not that I'm expecting to, given his track record) but it still wouldn't surprise me if he showed up at the wedding with, well, a big tittied stripper.

I know it is beyond my control, and it will not make a difference at the end of the day in whether we are married or not, but c'mon! That is not what I want for my wedding!

OK, I'm done, and over myself :) Any advice (including "suck it up") is very welcome! Thanks!

  • put a beefy groomsman in charge of kicking out the woman if she comes.
  • I would hazard to say he was probably joking too... however your message made me GULP at the idea of a few of my own family members who I wouldn't put it past them to make a similar comment...

I suppose if FI's dad shows up with a guest who looks an awful lot like a big-tittied-stripper... you could always call his bluff, tip off the DJ, and later in the evening (after several drinks) have the DJ call her up for a solo performance?

Sounds like you have your placecard name already. :)
  • Haha, thanks, ladies, those are some awesome ideas there :)
  • You're making the assumption that she's going to show up in stripper attire, which is probably totally false.  I wouldn't worry about it.

I did!  Especially the part about making her a proper card. lol
  • My goal is to laugh on my wedding day, and I suppose that this will just give me one more reason to do so :)
  • I'd guess he's joking.  But if he's not, I'm sure it won't be a big deal.

Well you may be in luck if your wedding is on a Friday or Saturday...Those are big money nights for a "big tittied stripper"  so maybe she will opt to work instead of escorting your FIL.

If she does show I wouldn't worry too much about the place card.  I'm sure you can list any typical stripper name and she will be ok with it!

  • Well, call me crazy, but I laughed! I think he was just joking (given his track record) and I doubt he will come and if he does I doubt he will be accompanied by a "big tittied stripper". Take a deep breath! Apparently it's everyones job to torture you about your wedding....I doubt anything will come out of it! :)

  • I'm sorry... I had to laugh at the place card comment.  Hopefully he will show (without the stripper) and it will be the perfect evening you planned.  Now back to reality.  If he does show with one, you just need to remember to take deep breaths and remember that everyone is still looking at you because you're the most beautiful person in the room and she doesn't hold a candle to you.
  • I personally like your attitude towards the whole thing. I wish more people on here had that kind of attitude towards "their big day". Like you said at the end of the day your married and that's all that matters.

I think some people just like to throw sh*t out there and see if they can get you riled up. Kudos to you for not taking the bait.

  • bahah i couldnt help but laugh at the name card junk. "hey where is my escort card?" (looks around) "Sarah, Frank, Big Ti... OH HERE IT IS!!"
  • I laughed too.  But, I agree, I doubt strippers love being strippers enough to wear stripper outfits to normal activities.

I'm glad your wedding is so soon!  I want an update about the stripper.

  • Have a place/escort card ready for both the father and the guest, just in case. Twenty years from now, when you and your husband open your wedding album it will be nice to have his dad's pictures in it.  Have a plain dress ready too, for the guest to wear, covering her from head to toe. Now I am kidding, but be prepared :-) This is your day, plan ahead and have fun while doing it.
