Re: Show me your wedding cake

  • We went pretty simple: buttercream frosting, a navy ribbon, and flowers, lemons, and limes that went with our bouqets and centerpieces.  A friend of mine from college made it!

  • Cake and key lime tarts behind it.  You get my bouquet as a bonus.

  • This was ours.  It fit our "Modern Muskoka" theme well.  A woman at my church who bakes on the side made it for us.  I was so happy with it.  The dark thing on the top is a gum paste orchid.

  • Coconut cake with lime curd filling on top, spice cake with caramel apples on the bottom. With a few photos from Modena for fun. :) My H designed the cake.
  • Everyone's cakes are so pretty!

LDY is your cake sitting on top of mason jars?  Damn I wish I had thought of that.

  • My cake was lemony with champagne filling and the grooms cake was like a cinnamon-y chocolate. They were soooooo good.

    Yes. Yes. He does. Loser.<div>
</div><div>His cake was amazing - chocolate cake with reeses mixed in, with peanut butter filling that had reeses mixed in. We only got the pieces we fed each other. It was GONE.</div><div>
</div><div>And yes, Adamar! The cake baker thought of it, actually :)</div>
  • I lucked out. I brought a picture I found on TK to the bakery and he looks at it and goes, "did you find that on TK? I made that." So he just made it again. It was perfect.

We did the key lime tarts instead of a grooms cake.  I ate more tarts than I did cake.  The only bite of cake I has was the one we exchanged.

  • The hotel gave us all of the leftover cake, and there was like 75 servings left. So I got to eat it all at home. I never ate a single peice of food or cake at the wedding.

    Our cupcake tower:

Our cake topper (a Clemson tiger groom and Boilermaker bride)

    And our rehearsal dinner cake

    Anyone see the symbolism?
(ETA: Matt went to Clemson.  I went to Purdue. We met in the middle at Virginia Tech.)
  • LDY - that cake sounds amahhhzing!  OMG, licking my lips over here.

Rosie, I love your cake!  It's so pretty!
  • All your cakes look awesome and they sound so delicious!
  • I was very lucky with our venue. It is a bed and breakfast so for the weddings there  when the bride and groom are ready to go into their room at night on the bed is two plates of dinner, two pieces of cake, and a pitcher of water. It was absolutely wonderful sitting in this gorgeous room with my new husband and eating food AGAIN that was wonderful and recapping the day/night with each other.

Ray, we didn't even get to take any of the cake home because we forgot to put it away that night.  Plus the baker didn't give us a box for the top.  We took a bunch of tarts home, though.  They were my snack at Wanee the next weekend :)

  • Your cakes are all amazing!  They are just beautiful and sound delicious.

H and I really don't like cake, so we just went with the cheaper option and go cupcakes and put them in boxes.  We both never even ate ours though we brought them back to the room with us and they sat there for 4 days....but we heard they were great.

This is the only one I can access on this computer. Don't mind me being a total ham. Oh, and now it's tiny, of course, so here's a link if you'd rather: http://www.kylehepp.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/fotografia-matrimonio271.jpg

  • Beanie, I think it looks pretty good for all that happened to it.

My aunt's cake topper broke the night before, so my great aunt skilfully glued it back together without even bothering my aunt.
  • Aw, all the cakes look so pretty. LDY, your groom's cake is amazing! My H would love that.

I just realized I don't have any pictures of my wedding cake. I think H has a few on his cellphone. I really hated that damn cake. I didn't want a cake but my MIL bought one anyway. She added the most obnoxious cake topper last minute. It was the one of the bride chasing the groom. She was really convinced I was forcing her son to marry me.
