XP: How to address Miltary

I have two people that are serving in the military both are married (one is a girl and the other is a guy). How do I address the invitations?!? My Save the Dates I didnt bother since those are more informal, but I feel like it should be acknowledged in the actual invitation. Thanks in advance!

Re: XP: How to address Miltary

  • Do you know their rank?

I addressed my brother (USMC) as:
    Cpl. John Smith

(Ya know, since he's a corporal).
  • I addressed using rank. One of my best friends is Private ________, so I addresed the invite Private Michael _________ and ____________. Because my dad and H's dad are high ranking police officers, I addressed their invites with their rank too. I doubt that's standard practice for police, but that's what I did. You should find out their rank and address that way.
  • I think she is a lieutenant. Him i need to do some fact finding. So it would be Mr. John Smith and lieutenant Jane Smith? Or Mr. and lieutenant John Smith?

  • Lieutenant Jane and Mr. John Smith

but if you're close enough to ask how they would prefer to be addressed I would.  My dad always preferred Mr. on personal things and only went by his military rank for work things.
