Seating arrangement poll

I have a long time before I need to worry about my seating chart, but I keep thinking about this...  Suppose you are attending a wedding at which you only know a few people, and they are significantly older than you (as in, part of your parents' generation).  Where would you rather sit?

Re: Seating arrangement poll

  • I like sitting with people I know. I would rather sit at a table with my parents or friends their age verses a table of all 26 year old strangers.
  • at my cousin's wedding, she decided to sit FI and I at a table with some people the same age as us (some of whom we knew, some that we didnt), rather than with my parents who were seated several tables away.

While I sort of understand her thought process (instead, she put my parents at a table with my aunts and their husbands), my parents live several states away and I would have preferred to be seated with them, as its a rarity that I get to see them throughout the year.  I'd have preferred to sit at their table with my aunts and uncles.  But I just went with whatever my cousin wanted,.
  • I actually prefer open seating. I've never been to a wedding with seating arrangements but if I were to attend one and had a date, I would rather sit by people my own age. If I came alone, I would rather sit by the people I knew.

  • It varies.  If you have fun friends that I have something in common with, I'd probably prefer that.  If not, then people I know.

  • A couple of my closest friends are people who are just a little younger than my parents...

That said, what I would care about is who I had most in common with if I wasn't particularly close to anyone there, regardless of age.
