My other logistics problem: transportation

Thanks everybody who helped me out with my hotel question earlier today - I have a lot of new things to think about.

My other big logistics problem is transportation for guests. The ceremony location is about 20 minutes away from the reception, on a different barrier island and across a toll bridge. Parking is rough but not impossible at the reception hotel, but at Lucy the Elephant it is a nightmare. They share their lot with a restaurant across the street, and they pretty much told me that they can guarantee me only 2 spots for 85 guests. Otherwise people would have to look for street parking, and looking for street parking in a Jersey shore town on a Saturday in August is no fun.

So I'm thinking that I need some kind of shuttle where guests can park at the reception and be taken to Lucy for the ceremony.

Here are my questions: Did you do any kind of guest shuttle for your wedding? If I may be so rude as to ask, what did it cost and where do you live? Were you happy with how it turned out?

Also, if you were a guest and your shuttle was a yellow school bus driven by my cousin Jimmy from Bayonne who calls everybody "youse guys", would you think I was a cheapo?

Any sort of shuttle, so long as it's safe and driven by someone with a liscense who is sober works.  Your cousin Jimmy included.

We have a shuttle.  We got a mini-coach that seats 27 people, and it's going to make multiple trips.  I talked with LOTS of companies, and most of the quotes were $700+.  I FINALLY got one that's $480, and I booked it.  The company has been around a long time and has a good reputation - I just had no idea they were so well priced or I'd have started there.

I've been getting quotes for around $500-$700 in LA and I'm also planning on looking into a school bus.

I don't know a thing about shuttles, but I just wanted to tell you how cool I think it is that you're getting married in Lucy! I've "known" her all my life, but I honestly didn't realize that you could even go inside, much less get married inside. (I still would not like to get up so early in the morning for a wedding, but I'll "forgive" a lot for a wedding in Lucy )

Hehe ten, does that change your mind about whether or not you'd want to spend an overnight at the Jersey shore? You really should go visit her sometime and go inside. They have a "tour" that basically consists of going up the staircase in her leg and then watching a video about her history, but it also means you get to go inside and up on top for a view of the ocean, and it's a pretty neat space. I highly recommend. :)
