Another rehearsal dinner question.....

Actually I have 2 etiquette questions about the RD:

1) Is verbal invitation enough?  Do we need to send out actual invites or can I just call and email? (We're only inviting immediate family, WP and their guests)

2) FMIL told me and FI specifically that they only want to pay for 1 alcoholic drink per person.   I don't know how to tell people this or even word it in an invite (email, evite, or invitation) without it sounding really tacky.  Suggestions?

TIA!

    1) verbal or e-mail is fine

    2) That's what my ILs did as well.  The restaurant made up little menus and it was on the bottom of the little menu, something like "one complimentary beer or wine will be provided with dinner".  The waitress let everyone know that they could get other/more drinks at the bar if they wanted to.  It worked out just fine for us.

  • Can they just order a few bottles of wine for the table and then if people want more than that, they can pay for it themselves?  I've been to dinner parties like that before.
