Flower etiquette

Hello... I'm having a small ceremony with only a flower girl and a ring bearer. I'm getting flowers for the parents, ring bearer and the flower girl, but I'm having readers read a verse from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament. Should I get a flower for the readers as well? Also, should they be invited to the rehearsal dinner??

Re: Flower etiquette

  • I think it's a nice touch, yes. Bear in mind that we went totally overboard on flowers, though; the parents, DOC, grandparents, aunts and uncles, wedding party, and musicians all got them.

"Should I get a flower for the readers as well?" I think it would be sweet if you did, for sure. "Also, should they be invited to the rehearsal dinner??" The rehearsal dinner follows the rehearsal. Since theyre in the ceremony, they should be invited to the rehearsal. And since theyll be invited to the rehearsal, then they should be invited to the rehearsal dinner.

  • Eh, I kinda hate wearing corsages.  They always feel very high school prom, they're tricky to attach to a dress, they often clash etc.  I'll wear it if I'm given one, but it doesn't feel like a "treat" to me.
  • We did boutonnieres for our readers.  I would also definitely invite them to the rehearsal and RD.  Personally I feel like the rehearsal is more important to them than any of the BP - most adults can figure out how to walk down an aisle without any assistance.  Knowing for sure when to go up for your reading; how close to the mic to be so you're heard but not too loud, confirming which reading they're doing and where the text for them to read will be.  It's a good thing for them to get to practice.

  • We asked everyone.  The only one who wanted corsages were the grandma's ;) I'd ask first.
