Bargain Brooklyn Brides?

We are starting to plan our wedding in Brooklyn, aiming for next spring, hoping to have between 100 and 150 people.
Right now we're looking at The Bell House, The Foundry, and the Metropolitan (in LIC, but nearby).  But!  We aren't sure whether or not we can handle the organization necessary to rent EVERYTHING for our venue.

I have tried searching this board for bargain/cheap wedding ideas, but I haven't had much luck.  So!  Please!  If you are having or have had a relatively inexpensive wedding (we are starting from scratch right now, but think we can get together $15- 20 K), please!  Share your secrets!

Thanks in advance!

you would definitely need to hire a wedding planner to help manage all of the vendors. But you should definitely ascertain whether its cost effective to rent a venue like the Picnic House in Prospect Park then you have a choice between about 7-10 caterers to choose from. Therefore, you donot have to worry about renting chairs, linens, etc etc

I'm getting married next saturday at My Moon, beautiful restaurant in Williamsburg.  We are having 200ppl, and talked them down to $125 pp, so that would work for your budget.  I'll try to remember to report back if there are any major snafus but so far we've been really happy with the tastings and such.

Just to add, that's $125 per person, food, alcohol, everything, with no need to manage rentals, no headaches, etc. We too were thining of starting from scratch, and it actually works out cheaper to go to a place that has it all. (except they don't have a tent for the outdoors space should it rain, and coordinating just that has been a huge pain in the ass).

As usual, I've gotta point you to the Indiebride forum... Lots of threads there that should help you, including the 'Cutting Costs' thread:

I heart the Foundry, but are you sure it can accommodate that size?  My friend had her wedding there and said the max was 98?

I think saigray is right. Look for a place that already has everything, chairs, tables etc. It will save you both money and future worries about coordinating all the vendors. I've been to My Moon, it's a very pretty place. Also check out Water Street Restaurant in Dumbo, they also do parties though I don't know their capacity.

Thanks so much!  I think part of what's so complicated is that we don't want to spend a lot of money, but we want a full dinner-dancing type event.
We will definitely call Bubby's and Water to see what our options are!  Thanks!

Oh, and the Foundry can have 125 seated, with dancing.  But knowing my guest list, 125 might be cutting it VERY close!  Yikes!

Follow Up:  We are signing our contract at ReBar!
We went for a tasting, and LOVED it, and we are doing 125 people, daytime wedding for $10,000 tax and tip included.  Phew!
    I'm so excited!

Now!  Any ideas for rehearsal dinners?  :)
PS- MyMoon never called or emailed us back!  So sad!
