Ceremony Music

The music board is pretty dead so Im hoping someone here might have some suggestions/opinions for me, you ladies always seem to have good advice.

For some background info, we are having a non traditional, non religious, outdoor ceremony officiated by a friend. I am having trouble coming up with some music and FI isnt coming up with anything either. For when I walk down the aisle I am leaning towards an acoustic cover of Bruno Mars' 'Just the Way You Are'

First question, is this a weird choice? Would you side eye it or think it was charming? Somehow it feels a little narcissitic to me since Im the one picking it, and its all about me and not us....but maybe Im reading way too much into it.

Follow up question, any ideas on a good song to use with it for the wedding party preocessional?

Thanks for any thoughts/suggestions

I walked to a string trio performance of Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes," the bridesmaids to The Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun" and our Recessional was "Star Wars: Throne Room.". I think your choice is fine.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • We had a pretty eclectic mix of songs we just liked - or represented meaningful moments to us.  Before the ceremony our musician played "You Are So Beautiful" and "At Last."  The processional for parents and bridesmaids was to "All You Need is Love" and I walked down the aisle to "When You Say You Love Me," which I decided was the song I would walk down the aisle to after I heard it originally, and far in advance of meeting DH.  Everything except the recessional was acoustic guitar - we recessed out to a bagpipe piece.

    I think it's a fine choice for a processional.

  • It's more than fine, it's great. We're having "non-traditional" ceremony music as well, and the pianist we hired said that more and more often, she's asked to play contemporary songs.

  • My WP walked to a string quartet's version of "Hallelujah" and I walked to the string quartet playing "Imagine." I think your song choice is fine.
