Another use for my planning bio?

I am trying to determine if getting a florist to do the very minimal flowers we've limited it to is worth it vs DIY.  The florists aren't local to where I live, so I want to send them info via email to start the conversation.  If they respond well, I'll make the drive over to meet them - I just don't want to drive all that way for no reason.

So, I updated my planning bio on the flowers page with most of the info and pics, because attaching all those pics would be a pain in the tush and I don't know what software they have to unzip things.  Do you think it's ok to send them the link to that page of my bio?  Obviously they could navigate to other stuff if they're nosy.  I'm not sure it matters.  Thoughts?

  • I think that is okay!

  • I think that's fine. It beats emailing a crap-ton of pictures. I gave my baker the link to mine so she could say inspiration I had for cakes.
  • don't really see why not. you let all of us look at the rest of the bio, and many unnamed lurkers.

  • Cool.  I couldn't think of a reason not to send it.  I really don't care if the florist knows what my dress looks like.  But, I was afraid I was thinking of something obvious.  I mean, I guess they could then knot-stalk me but since they're vendors. . .  Wink

  • I think that's fine.
  • Or you could print the flower page to a PDF and email her that...  I'm going to experiment with something.  I'll be right back :)
  • That's a really good idea.

  • Well, aren't you just handy?!?!  :)  Thanks!  I already sent one email with just the link, but there are a couple of others I have to get emails from via phone tomorrow, so I'll send that their way.

Except. . .  I just realized that the footer still has the website link in it.  They'd have to retype, but. . . same deal.

  • That's what I'm planning on doing with mine.  I already sent it to the graphic artist that's doing the invitations, she thought it was an awesome idea.  And my MOH thought it was brilliant too.

Especially doing a DW and working almost exclusively through email, I'm thinking it's going to be very useful.
  • Yeah, I don't know why I didn't think about this before.  I've got a shit-ton of stuff in mine now, though.  It's nice, though, because I can get to it from work or home, so it's easier than toting around a portable hard drive all the time.

  • Back when I did planning on my overnight job on their computer, I'd carry around a 2GB usb drive.  Had all my pictures, ideas, contacts, lists, whatnot on it.  Way better than carrying around a notebook, it's it's always so neatly organized.

Yeah, the other part is I'm not supposed to use a non-company issued USB device on my work computer.  Now, have I?  Yes.  Do I want to do it constantly?  No.  They'll come biitch at me about it.  Oh, and my stuff is WAY past 2G.  The wedding tree I did is about 10 on its own (the real super high res .eps file, anyway).

Expat, I could maybe do that in photoshop, but I've not tried editing pdf's created elsewhere in there.  Just creating them.  Hmmm.

  • I'd have no problem with sharing what I'm after with them, but I would feel weird about sending them the whole bio... that's just me, though.
