Should we host brunch the next mornig?

Our reception is at a fully functioning hotel. the hotel is more upscale and brunch the next day is pretty pricy. Will we be expecte to host brunch the next day for guests who stay at the hotel?

  • Only if you want to.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

No not really. Obviously if you want to you can, but it's not a requirement. The closest thing I've heard of to that is the Bride and Groom meeting up with family/close friends the next morning to eat brunch, but I haven't ran into any where they were hosted so I doubt your guests would be expecting it.
  • If you're going to eat there, then just spread the word. Everyone will pick up their own check then.
  • No, it's not a requirement.  If you want to take it upon yourself, then you may certainly do so if you wish, but if not, then it's okay not to.
  • I went to 4 weddings last year where most people had to travel and stay over. None of them hosted brunch (or even a continental breakfast). It's funny because my venue and the venue we almost selected both tried to make it sound like everyone does them. Honestly, I feel that it's nice, but not necessary.
  • It's not at all required.

I think brunches are another way for the wedding industry to dump money on our weddings.
  • We are debating hosting a brunch too. The only reason we really want to host brunch is so that we can spend a little more time with the people who are coming in from OOT who we do not get to see often. We may end up having something back at our house, we are not sure yet. I agree with sunshine about the wedding industry though, As I have been planning, and reading these boards, I see some things and I am just like why? Or when I watch 4 weddings. Weddings should not be about the competition, but I still love that show...lol.

  • I am still in the air on this myself. The hotel I am staying at charges  over 20.00 per person and all they get is coffee, tea, juice, bagel, and cream cheese. SERIOUSLY? Each guest would each need to eat  a dozen bagels themselves to make that worthwhile financially. I refuse to even considere that as an option for that price...

There is a nearby restaurant, so I may do that...

but again, it's not expected at all
  • It's expensive, unnecessary, and your guests may not even like it. After spending 5 hours celebrating you and spending time with your guests, I'm kinda done. And probably a touch hung over :
  • My sister and her husband did this @ 10am and they were the only ones who were not awake, lol. They missed their own day-after-wedding brunch.

Unless you are full prepared to get dressed and wake up early, I'd skip it. I'll most likely be too hung over to function.

  • our venue is trying to sell it to us too. is sounds like it's the new thing the wedding industry is trying to get more money out of us. thanks again for everyone's input.
