Ours is a Catholic Wedding, and due to a number of (very stressful) factors there was only one weekend we could be married, labor day weekend. However, the only catholic church in our small town only had the 11AM ceremony slot open and the hotel reception could not start before 5PM. Meaning, we have a 5 hour gap. I know this is awful, and plenty of problem solving was attempted, but it was either the gap or another full year till we could wed.
I know in order to be a good hostess I need to have something planned, but am starved for good (thifty) ideas. We taught of maybe: 1) renting a movie theater for people to catch an afternoon flim free, 2) a treasure hunt around town, 3) shuttle service to the state fair, 4) shuttle service to a shopping district, 5) tickets to a local museum... We want something optional, entertaining and not too stressful/exhausting.
How can we fill this time for our guests without being rude? We just couldn't wait another year.
