Another interview question (please bear with me)

I do realize I have been asking a LOT of interview questions lately, and they probably seem really asinine and simple, but I really just dont know the "right" thing to do.

I had a 2nd interview last Friday that went, as far as I knew, really well. They told me I would know either way by wednesday. Well, its wednesday and I know they are only open until 5, and its 2:30 right now and I havnt heard from them yet.

Is it too pushy to call today to follow up? I sent thank yous the day of the interview so im covered there, but I dont want to seem annoying seeing as how they told me they would tell me by today. Should I wait until tomorrow?

Please just tell me what to do to not make myself seem as desperate as I am.

I would wait until Friday afternoon.  Things always run behind schedule. 

Btw, none of your questions have been stupid.  What would be stupid, is to not ask at all and then look like a fool at your interviews!  Good luck!

I would call around 4, personally.  I'd wait for it to be a little closer to the end of the day.

I cant!! I have an interview today at 3:30 so I have to know what time it is or I will miss it!

The last interview that I'm waiting to hear from said they would let me know in 2-3 weeks, which is painful, but they also told me to not be afraid to call them in the meantime or after to check on the status of the application.

I don't think it would be pushy to call. But if you're really weirded out by it then waiting until tomorrow would be ok too.

For the record, I don't think it's pushy to call but don't be surprised if they haven't decided anything.

You can say you were  really impressed with XYZ company and how you could work well with their environment and wanted to know if they had filled the position yet.

Will what they say affect your interview today?

I would personally wait until at least tomorrow.  Think of it like a wedding RSVP date, you wouldn't advise a bride to go calling guests the day before RSVPs are requested back.

I definitely wont be calling them BEFORE the interview, thats for sure. I am incredibly moody and I dont want any disappointment about one affecting the other. That said, I actually am not sure who I would call - I was interviewed by two sales guys and the owner, but the owner mentioned in my interview that since he is rarely there its largely up to the sales guys because theyre the ones that will have to work with whoever is hired.

Maybe calling sometime tomorrow morning is better.

This is the first I am seeing of this since I don't come on this board a lot, but I can tell you as a recruiter for a large company, try not to get too worried. It really depends on who is supposed to get back to you. At some companies, the HR person doesnt run the whole process, and so it can be delayed by a few days. I think it would be fine to wait until tomorrow morning. I hope you hear soon!

I wouldn't follow-up before Friday.  Nothing ever happens on schedule when it comes to hiring.
