  • The last two!  It creeps me out so much.  I've never been able to do the mirror thing.

  • I've never tried the mirror trick because it freaks me the hell out. Vodka, spices, vegetables, and tomato juice? Yes, please.

  • I cannot go into bathrooms if the lights are out. If I do I keep my eyes closed until I turn on the light so I can't see the mirror. I also cover all mirrors at night. Yes I'm weird.
  • I 100% intentionally do NOT look in mirrors when I get up to get water or go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Im too scared to try, even at 26 years old Im still terrified of it. I am worried thinking the name in my head is enough to conjure her up.

I sing songs in my head when I get up to use the bathroom at night so that I dont accidentally think her name. I also went through a phase when I was a teenager when all the mirrors had to be covered with towels at night because I read somewhere she can chase you from mirror to mirror until she catches you.

    Fuuck I'm freaked out now.
  • I wasn't even afraid then. Not sure why that never bothered me. I was scared of everything else though!

  • Dh loves mirrors, which is why we have a huge mirror on our wardrobe (like...4' wide by 9' high) as well as a mirror on our headboard. They freak me out. They also led to a very uncomfortable moment when we were moving and the mover was like "lots of mirrors in the bedroom, so you're that type of couple eh?" not realizing that the dude standing behind him was my dad...
  • why do I click on your polls before I go to sleep?

I am going to go with a delicious drink and try and block out all other options.

Buuuutt, I was terrified when I was younger that the scary clown from "IT" would come from the drain and kill me.

  • I voted drink, though I'm not too fond of them actually.  I've never been a big ghost person, and had to look up what the story was about her just now.
  • Omg It. That stupid movie has scared me for life.
  • Wow.  I feel so much better about my own weirdness now!  I'm 27 years old and I still worry there are things under my bed (not all the time).  And did anyone see Darkness Falls?  It's got Anya from Buffy in it.  The gist is that a vengeful spirit called the tooth fairy comes into children's rooms, and if you see her, she kills you.  The only way not to die is to keep your eyes screwed shut.  So this is what I do when I'm laying in bed and hear random noises.

And now I feel super lame.

    THIS. FI thinks I'm crazy.

Creepy story for you... I have to pee all the time (that's not the creepy part). I got up in the middle of the night to go pee, and I always shut the bedroom door and then turn the lights on in the living room/bathroom so I don't get scared. Well, I did my thing, came back, and turned the lights off and opened the door. FI keeps his cell phone on a dresser across the room from the door. There's a lamp on the dresser. His phone had just gotten a text, so it lit up, casting a shadow back against the lamp that caused THE EXACT SILHOUETTE OF A PERSON STANDING against the wall. Just as I saw it, his phone got dark, and it disappeared. Scared me more than anything else, ever, in life. FI had to talk me down for like an hour.

It creeps me out. I'd say it twice in the mirror, and then chicken out before I said it a 3rd time!

Is the rule that you have to say it in the mirror in the dark? Or any time?

  • Wiki says:

"In Brazilian folklore, she's known as "a loira do banheiro" ("the blonde in the toilet"). To invoke her, one must flush the toilet three times while cursing. She will then rise from inside the toilet and presumably kill the invoker."

    (pardon the huge text)

I think if you are swearing and have to flush the toilet 3 times, you have more problems on your hands than brazilian demons...
  • I did it once, and I SAW HER and it freaked me out.  And then I realized that I am a dumbass, and it was my own reflection after my eyes adjusted.

You would probably have to pay me at least $20 to do it again though.

I just read her Wikipedia article and now I'm scared.  It's not even 7am.  I have to get my clothes from the dryer, but now I don't want to go down to the creepy basement.
  • I'm glad I didn't read this before I went to bed last night. I'm also glad that I'm not the only one who has a phobia of mirrors at night, or mirrors in general. On the rare occasion that I watch horror movies, the effect that scares me the most is when a person is looking in the mirror and suddenly they see the murderer/ghost/whatever standing behind them. Also, I don't like when normal faces morph into awful faces.

  • I don't believe she is real, but OMG, I'd NEVER do it.  Not even as a 35-year-old bitter hag!  NO! NO! NO!

I remember being 9 years old and waking my sister up to "escort" me to the bathroom because I was so terrified of Bloddy Mary.  This brings back great memories, ha!
  • Really late on this, but I stopped believing it when my father found out my friends and I were "trying" to see her in the mirror.  Then he sat me down and I got a huge lecture about Queen Mary I of England and why she was nicknamed that because she killed Protestants.  It sort of took all the fun and fear out of the whole thing, lol.
