Looking for recipes, and other randomness.

I just watched a news cast about pot holes. They're a big problem this year. I learned how they are made, and how they are patched.
Really, if that is all the news you've got, just don't bother news station.

In other news,
I've got a pound of ground beef and half a can of ambition. Any recipe suggestions?

I will be going to the store because the dogs need treats, and they run my life. So, if I find a good recipe I will pick up some more ingredients.

Easy throw together kind of recipe - just cook the beef and add whatever kind of spicy spices you like (cumin, chili powder, cayenne, whateva), add corn, add beans, add tomatoes if you like them, add cilantro...you can wrap it in a tortilla with cheese, you can eat it on a plate with a dollop of sour cream...

The root of this inspiration comes from a thing I make with ground turkey, and a jar of corn salsa from Trader Joe's.  It's quick, and you can add stuff or keep it simple and it's just as good.

Yes! Tacos. I'm eating taco flavored Doritos right now.

Yes, yes YES. I'll send you the ones that got rave reviews from carnivores:

White Tofu Chili (I submitted it!). Smoky, tasty, and just enough spicy.

Fettuccine and Tofu with Finger-Licking Peanut sauce
(literally everyone I've served this to has asked for the recipe. Instead of boiling the tofu, I stir-fry it on high heat with 1 tbsp. olive oil for 5 minutes. I also skip the carrots and steam broccoli instead):

Best Vegetarian Chili in the World (I double the veggies, adding zucchini, mushrooms, extra celery, and extra pinto beans. Only need one package of the burger crumbles):

Spinach & Artichoke Dip (I use fat-free everything and mix in 1 pound of silken tofu. You can't even tell it's there!):

Split Pea Soup (I skip the ham, obviously, and add 1 tbsp. butter and 2 tsp. liquid smoke instead):

    Mmmmm :)

Kate- That sounds simple and easy. I will give it a try.
Poli- Thanks! I never know what to do on Friday, so I end up just snacking all day.

I've never had Shepherd's Pie either. I'm going to have to add that to my experimental list. (Experimental b/c I haven't made it, and I always fail horrendously the first time around.)

I am getting better, but when FI and I had our first place together I set the kitchen on fire twice. So, I take new things slowly.
I tried to carmelize onions last week. It went badly.

    Shepherds Pie:

    1. Make some mashed potatoes. Set aside.
    2. Brown beef in a skillet with some oil, season with salt & pepper.
    3. Mix 1 beef boullion cube into 1C boiling water.
    4. Pour "stock" into browned beef.
    5. Add one can tomato paste.
    6. Simmer until thick.
    7. Transfer to casserole dish. Top with potatoes.
    8. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes.

Okay, news station has redeemed itself.
Some fuuckbag is throwing poisoned meatballs into people's fenced yards. They killed 3 dogs this weekend. Now I'm scared to let my dogs outside.

That is terrible!  Probably not a good night to make meatballs for dinner.
