Future In Law Question

My FI and I are getting married next October.  We are having a smallish wedding, 65-70 people, with a small reception in the church hall.  With the exception of one brother and his sister, and his children, the rest of his immediate family lives in Puerto Rico, where we have decided to go for our honeymoon.  His parents have already said they won't be able to make the wedding due to work and cost.  His father has stated that he would love for us to come and visit while there, after we have honeymooned for a little while.  I have no problem with it, would love to meet the rest of his family since I have only met his mother once.  Never met his father or his other brother.  I was thinking, would it be okay to have a small reception type dinner there to make up for the one they missed?  I want to go to a restaurant, but FI had the idea of having a small get together at one of his parents houses (they are divorced) since many of his aunts and uncles will want to be there also.  I really want to do what is best for everyone concerned, since I want good karma in the in-law department!

Re: Future In Law Question

  • Yes, a small party.  I guess I am so into wedding mode I call it a reception!
  • It sounds like a great way to meet everyone who couldn't come.  Enjoy.

<div>I think a get together at his family's would be amazing. It would let you in on their culture and customs and see how everyone interacts with each other when they're at their most comfortable!</div>
