My brother just got married in Kauai and my finance (we are getting married in September) and I attended - he's my brother - I had to go. It cost over $2k in airfare. They paid for dinner after their ceremony. They are having a reception for family and friends who weren't able to attend. Do I need to give him a gift? I would like to but I really can't afford it until probably October - after my wedding. I still have a number of things to pay for for my wedding as well as my own honeymoon. I co-hosted the shower and gave a gift to his bride. I was going to give a card and just tell my brother how wonderful it was to be able to see him get married; that it's been an expensive year so far; and that I don't expect a gift for my wedding either. Does this seem OK?
