Gift for anniversary party

In a few weeks we're going to a 40th anniversary party for Tim's aunt and uncle. I was planning on getting a card, but was wondering if gifts are appropriate / the norm. I don't recall having ever been to an anniversary party.

  • I think it really depends on the crowd.  In my family we wouldn't, but I think H's family does.  I think a card is fine, but a GC to go out to dinner would be sweet as well.  I'd keep it small, though, and probably something to do - dinner, tickets to a show/event/game, etc.

  • I would probably do a bottle of wine.  40th Anniversary is Ruby, so how about a Ruby wine?
  • Thanks!  I wasn't sure. I think I'll do a gift card for a nice dinner out
