MAJOR Christmas shopping done!!!

I just knocked out major Christmas shopping.  For the last 2 years I have taken the g'kids and their parents to Great Wolf Lodge for their Christmas present.  For those of you unfamiliar, it is a waterpark/hotel.  We have gone several other times too.

Since I retired this year we let the kids know we probably wouldn't be doing that for Christmas since Nana's discretionary spending fund (aka "the nana fund") isn't what it used to be.  Well, my buddy Groupon shoots me an email yesterday with a Great Wolf deal I just can't refuse.  We are going back as their Christmas present, but it will be a few weeks before Christmas.  I am so excited!!  There is nothing (when you are 52 anyway) like your grandson asking you to ride the biggest waterslide because he thinks you are a cool Nana.  I am incredibly fortunate.

I also don't have to shop and wrap for 9 people now either!  I started working on stocking stuffers over the Summer.  Who else has started any shopping?

Re: MAJOR Christmas shopping done!!!

  • I won't shop for our other adult kids until Thanksgivingish.  I get their wish lists and usually head to amazon.com while I enjoy my hot choc and fuzzy slippers.  We have 2 other dd's, 1 SIL, and DS.  I really can't complain about how hard it is to shop for everyone.
  • I picked up a few things at an auction the other day, but most of our gifts will end up being handmade. Work gets much slower for both of us in the winter, so we'll have more time on our hands.
  • Awesome! I just heard of that place last week. Hopefully we'll make a trip to their Pocono location in a few years.
  • I already know what FI is getting for Christmas a painting made by penguins from the aquarium and I have my gram and sister covered. My mom and dad are the hardest, especially because I had to buy double for them. Both have birthdays right around Christmas.

  • Ugh, I don't even want to think about Christmas.  But, good job on finding a good deal.  I am always up for saving $.
  • I started shopping a couple if months ago. I love getting it done early so I can relax and enjoy the holiday season.

  • She's the first grandchild so we'd be there alone.  SIL is expecting (due in 5 wks) so I'm hoping we can make it a family trip in a year or two.

I'll have to scour for Groupon deals.   The rooms were pricey!
  • They are.  This is the best deal I've ever gotten so I'm a happy Nana.
  • Have a great time!
  • I've started.  I've got my mom and brother done.  Picked up one thing for H and have ideas for more, but I have to sprinkle them into the budget.  I think I know what I'm getting SIL.  When we're in Ohio next week we'll talk to them about whether we're exchanging gifts or not.  Last year we all pitched in and adopted a family together instead of exchanging gifts, but I'm not sure how Fruit Loop's arrival will alter things.  I'm due mid-December so I'm getting my shopping done early as much as possible.
