WR- Parent TY Gift Ideas?

Hey guys! I've been MIA lately. I miss your faces.

Also, do any of you have any wonderful ideas about thank-you gifts for parents? FI and I are stumped. We can't decide if we should do something like a gift card for a nice dinner out, or if it should be something more keepsake-y.

What did you give your parents as thank you gifts?

  • I'm trying to convince FI to get his parents a nice digital picture frame.  FMIL loves to take pictures, and I think they'd really like it.  He'd rather just get them a wedding picture.

  • We are bad children and didn't get our parents anything. H's parents told me not to get them anything b/c they knew we paid for most everything ourselves. We brought both sets of parents something back from the HM though.

I like the idea of a nice photobook or picture frame, giftcards to the spa for your Mom, giftcards to your Dad's favorite store, nice bottle of wine, a weekend getaway (if you can afford it).
  • I was thinking about getting my mom an interlocking hearts necklace (I think it's around $65 from bluenile.com), because I like the idea of having something keepsake-y.  I can't think of anything for my dad, though.  He doesn't golf, wear cufflinks, or pride himself in alcohol knowledge/collection, and a lot of the more sentimental gifts for men that I've seen are along these lines.  I was thinking about just doing an engraved frame for him, since he spends a lot of time at his office, and then maybe also the Father of the Bride DVDs (he likes watching the same movies over and over).
  • We're getting them wedding photo coffee table book things, but they're essentially part of our photo package, so we wanted to get something on top of that.
  • mixtape--same with us with the photobook, so I am also brainstorming additional ideas for my parents.
  • we are taking each set on day trips through a city to places that haven't been too.  My parents to B-more Inner Harbor.  His DC to some of the newer museums (ex. Newseum).

  • They're each getting a parent album and we're having each of their wedding photos put on canvas.
