Shower for Destination Wedding

My friend is having a destination wedding next year and is only planning on inviting about 30 people.   I wanted to check on the etiquette for her shower.  I'm pretty sure that only the women that are invited to the wedding should be invited to the shower.  Is this correct?  We've brought this up to her already and she argues that isn't true and says we should invite many more people than that.

How would you handle this?
TIA for the input!

  • Anyone who is invited to the shower is invited to the wedding. Period. It doesn't matter what kind of wedding it is.

Yup - they need to be invited to the actual wedding to be invited to the shower.

As someone in a similar position, I'm having a hard time convincing the powers that be that this is actually true.  Some places will say you can pull from the AHR list (if she's having one) for the shower, but really, they need to be invited to the ceremony.

EDIT: OP - your screen names makes me smile :)
