[QUOTE]<strong>I have never seen footloose</strong>...but if you say so! :) Just telling what I know from someone who comes from a family a Baptist preachers. (Democratic ones, but preachers none the less) I promise I didn't mean to make light of this or a joke,  it's history!  And I'm talking like... 1860's kinda history, not whenever footloose is from.

If I wanted to hear the pitter-patter of little feet, I'd put shoes on the cat. image

  • I know, I know! I'm just not a movie person so there are a lot of great classics I have never gotten around to watching. I finally just saw "It's a wonderful life" last weekend.

[QUOTE]You know what's sad about this Nugget? She may have missed her Footloose window. I'm sure you as well as me, grew up with this movie so you appreciate the bad acting, corny (but amazing) music and dancing so it makes you warm and fuzzy when you watch it. I'm not sure if I saw this movie for the first time today that I would hold the same adoration. Oh Ready2B- this makes me oh-so sad for you

This happened to FI with Labyrinth.  When he moved in and mentioned it, I was all "ZOMG, you haven't seen Labyrinth? David Bowie's balls, arggghhh!!!111!" and put it on immediately.  When it was over he was like "ok.  I don't get it."  It makes me sad when I say "You remind me of the babe" and he just stares at me :(
  • How tragic! I missed such a cultural icon. Does it help me that I was raised on and appreciate how awful / yet amazing Monty Python is?

  • Monty Python is best appreciated in the middle of the night with a large group of deliriously tired college students. I once tried to watch it during the day, being fully aware, I made it through about ten minutes.

  • Mel, I haven't seen Labyrinth enough to remember it well. Why does this make me feel ashamed? I think because you're really funny and I wanted to be like "He doesn't get that he reminds you of the Babe? Whaaaaaa??" But I just have no clue what that means either.

  • Nugget - There are several different types of Baptist denominations.  Southern Baptists are not the only very conservative Baptists.  American Baptists (as an example) tend to be more liberal.  For example, conservative Baptists would not be likely to have women as pastors or leaders because they believe that women should not have leadership over men.  More liberal Baptists hire women as pastors in their churches.  In the same way, a more conservative Baptist denomination would not allow the drinking of alcohol by members where a more liberal Baptist denomination wouldn't speak on the matter.

  • I will say that at the one dry reception I've been to, I'm pretty sure one of the bridesmaids did coke in the bathroom.
