Re: NA

  • If you picked out the ring I would say it would be rude to want to change it now. This ring should have sentimental value. You can buy other rings that you like for yourself if you like. But seeing other rings you like more (which makes me assume you do like your ring) doesn't seem like a very good reason to change rings.

  • Are you talking about the setting or the stone?

If it's the setting I do not really have an issue with it, although I think it's odd..

The stone is a different story for me and I'm not even sure why?

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Depends on what you don't like. It would be simple enough to change the setting or perhaps go from yellow gold to white gold.

But whatever you do, DON'T say you want a bigger more expensive diamond!

How about waiting until you're buying your wedding ring and asking whatever jeweller you go to to work on both the wedding band and the engagement ring, perhaps to fashion a matching set, using your original diamond?

Whya re you still looking at rings  if you have one? Move onto a band and let it be.

IMO, if you picked the ring out in the first place, you are spending way too much time thinking about it if you've already changed your mind.  I'd leave it alone.  But that's just me.

  • I think it's rude to want to change it just because your tastes have changed.  I know my FI would be extremely hurt if I asked to change it after I helped pick out the one I currently have.

  • Well, I want a bigger diamond too, but I realize, its not in the cards and be happy with the sparkle I have :)

  • Screw that.  Save the bigger diamonds for a vow renewal when you have invested a few years into your marriage!

Then retire the ring you now, appearantly, don't like.
(I also see NA, I hate when they do that.)
