Wedding Etiquette Forum

Hi!

How's everyone doing? I haven't been around too much lately, but I pop in when I can! I see that there are a lot of new people around here.

Anyone doing anything exciting this weekend?

Re: Hi!

  • SIL gave me my bridesmaids gift last night. jewelry for the wedding day, brown nail polish for my toes on the wedding day,and brownish lipstick for the wedding day. fun stuff.

my fav horse lost her race yesterday and will longer be running in her big race in april. this means i might not get to see sucrets in 4 weeks after all. :( we may still go, but i don't know.

we went to a braves spring training game yesterday and i got fried. i hate sunburn.

oh, and my H threw his brother's bach party last night. brother was too drunk to drive so he passed out in our guest room on my nice bedding. he puked all over it. i want to cry. i love that bedspread and it's dry-clean only.
  • Sarah, brown nail polish and lipstick? Por que? And I can't tell if you're being sarcastic about getting all stuff for her wedding as your gift. ;) My sis gave me earrings to wear at her wedding, but I wasn't mad because they were cute and I've worn them a ton elsewhere since then.

  • Gg, we're heading over towards Winchester area.

i assumed she would get us all our wedding crap as a "gift." lol. not sure how i am going to pull off the poopy polish and lip gloss, but the earrings are pretty and sparkly.

she also decided that she and BIL are going to give toasts at the ceremony as a substitute for talking to each guest personally. she said she is going to eat dinner and dance all evening and enjoy herself because that is what the evening is about. she does not plan to spend much time mingling with her guests. i told her she is wrong but she doesn't listen. whore.

Boo, Sarah! That doesn't sound like a fun weekend. :( I am jealous that you got to see the Braves though - they are my favorite team!

  • Wait, what? Toasts as a substitute for talking to people? And toasts at the ceremony? I am utterly confused. Does she know she can actually eat (somewhat), dance, AND spend time with people all in one night? I've heard it's possible!

My head is truly spinning. Did you at least try to direct her here for some friendly advice? ;)

  • no. after she refused to wear the custom engagement ring he made for her--to look exactly like the designer ring she wanted--because she now wanted an antique style ring, i gave up. she made him buy her a whole new ring and eat the cost of the custom work on the original ring.

But, but... couldn't keeping the original ring have prevented them from having to buy a house to get the 8k to pay for extra stuff at the wedding? Ummm... Does she at least treat your brother well?
