We're renewing/remarrying each other after being divorced 12 years...

We want a renewal of vows ceremony but don't know "the rules" with this? I don't want to wear white but don't know about a full reception, attendants, etc? Our original album is MIA so I want a full range of pictures. What do you all think?

  • If you two have been divorced for 12 years and are getting remarried then aren't you having a ceremony? Or are you just re-committing yourselves without the legal part?

  • ditto PP, I'm confused. If you've been divorced for 12 years than this is pretty much the only time that you actually get to have a wedding with the same person twice.  I don't think there are technically any rules limiting this one. I mean you want to make sure you don't do anything your friends and family will role their eyes at (which might include a white poofy ball gown and 6 attendants each).  But I think you've go pretty free reign

<div>This. And you might want to check out the second wedding board for some ideas. Congrats on your engagement. </div>
  • Congratulations and best wishes!

The Second Weddings board probably has the most useful advice for you on this.
  • Congratulations on your engagement!  The Second Wedding board will be a good place for you to spend some time, but there is not a 'ton' of traffic there.  I, too, am a second time bride, but am not remarrying my ex husband.  The general rule is that you can do whatever you'd like to do in terms of your wedding.  Big or small, it's your call.  Enjoy this special time and good luck with all of your plans!
